2013 WR Rankings

We will attempt to separate wide receivers into tiers to give you a better idea of the upside and potential of various wideouts for the 2013 NFL season. In today’s article we will discuss those that appear in our top ten tiers which will span a total of 49 players

Tier One

Calvin Johnson remains the games premier wideout both in real and virtual pigskin. A football beast at the wide receiver position Megatron is in a class all by himself.

Tier Two (1-A)

With Carson Palmer in Arizona the only wideout in the NFL who may be more talented than Calvin Johnson finds himself counted back among the leagues elite wideouts for fantasy football purposes. He is joined by third year sensations A.J Green and Julio Jones as well as fourth year man Dez Bryant. Brandon Marshall also makes an appearance in tier two after seeing a rejuvenation pairing back up with former QB Jay Cutler.

Tier Three

Tier three is comprised of game-breaking wideouts who can easily finish the season as a top five fantasy receiver. Tier three includes Percy Harvin, Randall Cobb, Demaryius Thomas and Hakeem Nicks.

Tier Four

Tier four has some oldies but goodies and features wideouts Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne and Roddy White all whom still have some WR1 left in them and are among the most reliable options in all of fantasy football. Joining them in tier four are an Andy Reid led Dwayne Bowe, who has never been short on natural talent and the explosive Vincent Jackson who seems destined to finish the season as a WR1.

Tier Five

Tier Five is filled with players who should produce like WR1’s even though they are ranked below twelve on my personal rankings. This goes to show the amount of top flight wide receivers there are in the NFL and why wide receiver is the deepest position in fantasy. This tier boasts special talents like Jordy Nelson, Victor Cruz, Mike Wallace and Marques Colston. This quartet has WR1 potential but would make for elite WR2’s for those whom are lucky enough.

Tier Six

Tier six brings us to the true WR2’s of fantasy. This is a larger group and includes Torrey Smith, Steve Smith, Pierre Garcon, Wes Welker, James Jones, Kenny Britt and Tavon Austin.

Tier Seven

Tier seven includes Antonio Brown, Danny Amendola, Greg Jennings and DeSean Jackson and is a group that will compete to be top-25 wideouts when the fantasy season is all said and done. Jackson may be ranked a bit low due to his game changing speed and may be a solid value pick in drafts this year. These wideouts are legitimate WR2’s that will likely be on a lot of rosters of teams who will be making their fantasy playoffs this year.

Tier Eight

Tier eight is a two man tier that includes Cecil Shorts who has to deal with the inept Blaine Gabbert once again as well as the very intriguing Josh Gordon whose two week suspension could make him the steal of the draft. These are two wideout that though mere low end WR2 options have the potential for top-15 fantasy seasons, something I would not even say about anyone in tier seven. Their floors however, are much lower, which is why the appear in this lonely tier.

Tier Nine

Tier nine is made up of WR3’s with WR2 potential. Having any of these players as your WR2 can pay huge dividends but as WR3’s they can truly take your team to the next level. This large tier includes Miles Austin, Eric Decker, Steve Johnson, Danario Alexander, Mike Williams, Jeremy Maclin, Anquan Boldin, Santonio Holmes and Justin Blackmon.

Tier Ten

Tier ten has twenty two players as of this writing and is comprised of players you will likely be considering as your flex options and bye week fillers. A number of them have WR3 upside including T.Y Hilton, Sidney Rice, Denarius Moore, Michael Floyd, Emmanuel Sanders, Alshon Jeffery, Kendall Wright and DeAndre Hopkins.
