DFS Week Five: FanDuel

Julian Edelman (CPP $508) – Currently leading the NFL in receptions per game and coming in 2nd and 10th in targets and yards per game respectively Edelman is a top weekly DFS play but is currently a bargain at only 11th in salary rank. Julian Edelman will never be an exciting name but he is a solid and consistent PPR play on a Patriots team that is looking to beat people up in the wake of deflate-gate. Edelman should continue to get ball in an offense that is devoid of any other consistent healthy talent at wide receiver making him one of the top CPP and overall plays at wide receiver this week.

Jordan Matthews (CPP $484) – Jordan Matthews has had a tumultuous season with Sam Bradford struggling under center for the Eagles but is still averaging over six receptions per game and has enviable upside especially at his current salary rank of 19th among wide receivers. Matthews will remain a target monster and a high upside PPR play in this offense going forward despite the Eagles struggles. The Eagles face off against a Saints team this week that seem to be finally righting their ship on offense and could force the Eagles to air it out in a game that features the highest Vegas over/under line of the week. With a salary of $6,800 and the upside to put up top ten numbers this week the appeal here is too strong to not at least consider.

Le’Veon Bell (CPP $437) – Bell comes in as our top CPP play this week at the running back position despite Big Ben still being sidelined. Michael Vick showed last week that he still has his athleticism and that Bell will be leaned on even more With Roethlisberger on the sidelines making him one of the top running back options in both GPP and multiplier games this week on FanDuel. The Chargers have been getting beat up on the ground this year and we can all be sure that Bell will see numerous dumpoffs from Vick making him one of the highest floor options at a position that is becoming increasingly unpredictable.

Jamaal Charles (CPP $455) – The Chiefs are expected to steamroll the Bears this week at home which means Charles should see extra opportunities on the ground versus the eleven carries he saw against both the Packers and the Bengals the last two weeks. Jamaal Charles remains the focal point of this offense and is one of the top cost-per-projected-points options this week at the running back position. Charles currently leads all running backs in targets (26) and is fourth in the league with five receptions per contest making an option with one of the highest week to week floors in FanDuel contests.

Matt Ryan (CPP $389) – Matt Ryan should be in for a more competitive matchup in week five as the Falcons host Washington so he should have a full game to accrue stats as opposed to getting rested rather early in a blowout like we saw last week against the Texans. Matt Ryan has been pretty solid all season and has arguably the game’s best receiver as a weapon so his upside will rank among the top CPP plays on a week to week basis. Ryan has a rather easy matchup against a soft Washington secondary and should be able to carve them up for a nice fantasy line against a defense that gave up three passing touchdowns to a struggling Sam Bradford last week.
