Fantasy Basketball Hot Pickups – Week 4

Win My Fantasy League writer Rizzla brings you some hot fantasy basketball pickups to help you win your fantasy league.

Jonny Flynn will return next Wednesday and needs to be added in all leagues especially since he will be named the starter almost right away with Luke Ridnour dealing with an injury. Flynn has significant upside entering his second season and will have a special chemistry with fellow Syracuse Orange alum rookie Wesley Johnson. A 13, 6, 1.5 season seems likely.

Kyle Lowry is the Rockets PG to own with Aaron Brooks out with injury and he finished Friday nights game with 13 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks and has the chance to be a fantasy force in Brooks’ absence.

Samuel Dalembert is only 67% owned depsite being the starter for the Sacramento Kings and while we don’t usually recommend players over 60% owned Dalembert needs to be universally owned as long as he is getting 25+ minutes a game as a starter or a bench player.

Rudy Fernandez has been strong (2.7 threes per game over the last 7 days) with Brandon Roy out of the lineup with an injury and is worth the add as Brandon Roy had been diagnosed with having no meniscus in either knee which means he will have bone on bone issues and arthritic like symptoms for the rest of his career. He is worth the add in all formats.

Taj Gibson is only 57% owned despite starting at PF for the Bulls in Carlos Boozer’s absence; he is worth the short-term add if you have the roster flexibility.

Tyson Chandler is only 56% owned and had a monster 12 rebound, 2 block game for the Mavs on Friday night. He should be rostered by all rebound and block needy teams despite the timeshare with Brendan Haywood.

DeMar DeRozan is fresh off a career high 26 points in a win against the Magic where he also added 7 rebounds and a steal and is worth a look in all leagues due to his scoring upside. He is not there yet but he has the potential to take over as the Raptors #1 option this season and I for one want my fantasy team to be along for the ride.

Brad Miller got the start at C for the Rockets on Friday and is worth the add as long as Yao Ming is out and Miller is getting starter minutes.

Amir Johnson seems to be coming into his own for the Raptors and is worth the add for his rebound and block upside. Only foul trouble keeps him from being a household fantasy basketball name.

Toronto Raptors starting point guard Jarrett Jack is only 58% owned and should be owned in all leagues not only for the fact that he is starting but also for the fact that he has SG eligibility in Yahoo! leagues.

Yi Jianlian of the Washington Wizards is averaging 5 blocks per game over his last two and needs to be added where roster space allows for it. Josh Howard’s return will cut into his minutes but he is worth the add based on his stat stuffing upside.

Ty Lawson is averaging 4 assists per game off the bench and is worth the add if you need assists help. He is a must-add in dynasty leagues and if Melo is traded we expect that Billups will not be far behind which would leave Ty Lawson as the starting PG playing a central role for the Nuggets down the stretch of the fantasy basketball season.
