Sit Em, Start Em – Week 14

Start Em

Michael Crabtree has a tough matchup this week versus the Seahawks but comes in as a WR3 that is worth starting in this all important fantasy week. Crabtree had the long gain of the night last week with a 60 yard reception and could push for 80 plus yards despite the difficult matchup. Crabtree remains Kaep’s favorite target and should see his targets rise exponentially this week. We expect this one to be a shootout despite the presence of two of the NFL’s best defenses and Crabtree should vie for WR2 numbers at the very least.

Nate Burleson has a strong matchup versus a weak Eagles secondary this week and is a strong start for those of you on the fence especially in PPR leagues. The Eagles have given up the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers and Burleson should have a strong day in what is expected to be a shootout. Start Burleson wherever possible.

Le’Veon Bell has a dream matchup this week versus the Miami Dolphins who are giving up the sixth most fantasy points to opposing running backs. Bell has been cleared to return to practice after his gutsy touchdown last week and comes in as our 14th ranked running back for week fourteen. Bell is a strong start this week and should be penned in all formats.

Ben Tate finally ran wild, scoring three touchdowns and rushing for 102 yards against the New England Patriots reaffirming the fact that he is an RB1 when healthy and not sharing the backfield with Arian Foster. Tate comes in as an our fourth overall ranked running back for week fourteen as the Texans square off against the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. Expect Tate to surpass 100 yards rushing with one or two scores. Start Tate in all leagues.

Russell Wilson should be in line for another strong week despite playing against the 49ers who have allowed the 5th fewest points to the quarterback position. Wilson has won two of his three meetings with the 49ers and we expect Wilson to throw for at least two TD’s in what could become a shootout if Colin Kaepernick is up to the task. Start Wilson with confidence despite the tough matchup. Wilson debuts as our 7th ranked QB for week fourteen.

Jordan Reed is expected back this week and is a must-start in all formats. It has become painfully obvious that RGIII only has two weapons that can be relied upon in the passing game and Reed will step right back in as the team’s number two option. Start Reed in all leagues this week versus the Chiefs.

Sit Em

Willis McGahee managed to find the end zone last week and rush for over 4 yards per carry but he is not a recommended play this week versus a Patriots run defense who are giving up the eleventh most fantasy points to opposing running backs. McGahee comes in as our 40th overall running back this week and is not a strong bet for production with the Browns expected to be in catch-up mode. Owners should not be looking at Browns free agent target Ben Tate’s week thirteen performance as an indicator the Pats can be handled in the run game, Tate is that good.

Hopefully by now fantasy owners understand that Bobby Rainey is not someone you can trust in the fantasy playoffs. Aside from his explosion against a pitiful Falcons defense Rainey has been an utter disappointment to fantasy owners who were hopeful that Rainey could provide close to Mike James’ level of fantasy production. The Bills have surrendered the 12th fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs and that couple with Rainey’s recent struggles should be all the reason you need to keep Rainey on the bench whether your league starts its playoffs in week fourteen or not.

Terrence Williams remains as boom or bust weekly play with Tony Romo preferring to target Dez Bryant, Jason Witten and DeMarco Murray in the passing game. Williams flirted with upside WR3 value for a few weeks but has put just 87 total yards in his last four games combined. Leave Williams on fantasy benches until further notice regardless of matchup. Williams comes in as our 55th ranked wide receiver for week fourteen.

Tavon Austin has been on fire over the past few weeks but the astute fantasy owner will see that Austin has been the beneficiary of big plays in the return game and a couple of long touchdowns. Austin still remains an inconsistent fantasy option and should not be trusted during the fantasy playoffs to give owners a serviceable performance. This week Austin squares off against Patrick Peterson and a Cardinals pass defense giving up the sixth fewest fantays points to opposing wide receivers. Austin comes in as our 60th ranked wide receiver for week fourteen of the fantasy football season.

Zach Ertz remains nothing more than a TE2 play despite his two touchdown week thirteen. Ertz has never been short on talent and he holds significant upside in dynasty leagues but he is best left on the bench in all but the deepest formats. Ertz will continue to be inconsistent until he is featured at tight end and should not be counted on for week to week production. Ertz comes in as our 21st ranked tight end for week fourteen.

Mike Glennon has shown some flashes of upper level QB2 talent but he has proven to inconsistent to trust on a week to week basis. He should find more success this week than last against a middle of the pack pass defense but Glennon is hard to trust outside of two QB leagues. We suggest hitting the waiver wire this week if Glennon has somehow ended up your starter due to injury. Glennon comes in as our 22nd ranked QB play for week fourteen of the fantasy football season.
