Sit Em, Start Em – Week Thirteen

Start Em

Chris Ivory and the Jets face off against a Dolphins defense allowing the fifth most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season which makes Ivory a solid start this week. Ivory has shown flashes of dominance by surpassing 98 rushing yards in three of his past five contests. Ivory should vie for at least 80 yards rushing so long as the Geno Smith doesn’t dig the Jets into a large hole which causes the coaches to abandon the run. Start Ivory with confidence this week.

Andre Brown looks like a top ten option this week against a Washington team giving up the sixth most fantasy points to opposing running backs. Vegas has this one being a tight matchup but we expect the Giants to be up in this one giving Brown extra carries. Brown looks like a 80/20 lead back and plays on passing downs and has one of the easiest matchups of the week. Start Brown in all leagues.

Russell Wilson has a plus matchup in what is expected to be a shootout against the Saints with Vegas setting the over under at 47 points. Wilson will have Percy Harvin back at full strength with a bye week to scheme him into the game plan. Expect Wilson to pitch some strikes to Tate and Harvin and to keep pace with the explosive New Orleans Saints offense. Wilson comes in as our fifth ranked QB play for week thirteen.

Nate Burleson looks like a strong start this after returning to the Lions to the tune of seven receptions on ten targets for 77 yards and a score. Burleson immediately stepped up as the team’s number two receiver and the Canadian faces off against a Packers team that is in the bottom half of the league for fantasy points allowed to the wide receiver position. Burleson should see at least eight targets this week and should vie for 65 plus receiving yards. Burleson comes in as a WR3 this week and is ranked as our 36th overall play at the wide receiver position.

Percy Harvin comes in as a top-20 option this week in what is expected to be a shootout against the New Orleans Saints. The Seahawks had the bye week to get Harvin up to full speed and they are expected to finally unleash their top offensive off-season acquisition. The Saints have astonishingly been solid against the pass this season under Rob Ryan but Harvin is a special player with WR1 talent. The Saints have given up some solid fantasy days this season including the ten reception, 218 yard effort to Alshon Jeffery. Expect Harvin to vie for five plus receptions and 80 plus yards from scrimmage with at least 25 percent of them coming after the catch. Start Harvin with confidence this week.

Julius Thomas is expected back this week after missing last weeks contest with the Patriots and judging by the Broncos difficulties passing over the middle last week they need Julius to remain the top seed in the AFC. Thomas continues to be an elite option at the tight end position and he should continue to be a top five play until Peyton Manning retires. Start Julius in all formats.

Sit Em

Darren McFadden is expected to return this Thanksgiving but he is expected to be playing behind Rashad Jennings who has emerged as an RB2 while D-Mac has been out. There is no way to accurately forecast his workload this week so we recommend keeping him on your bench this week as he attempts to secure the lead back role in this newly formed committee.

Trent Richardson should be on fantasy benches until further notice. Some fantasy owners who spent a first round pick may be tempted to continue to trot him out there but he has show very little upside this season and we can only blame ourselves for being so high on a back who averaged less than four yards per carry in his rookie campaign. Yes folks, the Browns do indeed know a thing or two about running backs and how to evaluate them.

Mike Glennon has be a serviceable fantasy asset the past few weeks but has a tough matchup versus division rival Carolina Panthers this week. The Panthers have given up the 2nd fewest points to opposing quarterbacks this season and Glennon is expected to struggle in this one. Glennon’s fantasy value will be predicated on hooking up with his receivers deep downfield. Sit Glennon this week and roll with anyone not named Geno Smith or Case Keenum.

Marques Colston and the Saints face off against the Seahawks this week and with Colston disappointing for the majority of this season it is hard to see him finding success against one of the leagues elite corners in Richard Sherman. The Seahawks are reeling in the cornerback department so Stills, Moore and Meachem have some upside this week but we expect Colston to be shut down.

Tavon Austin, despite his flashes of brilliance is a risky play in standard 12 team leagues. Austin has been doing a lot with limited touches buoying his fantasy value over the past few weeks but he is the definition of a boom or bust proposition. Austin has a FA floor with WR3 upside week to week but he gets a slight downgrade this week against a 49ers team that has allowed the tenth fewest points to the wide receiver position. Those in standard leagues will want to take a look at other options this week. Austin comes in as our 57th ranked wideout for week thirteen.

Jared Cook continues to be an upside laden play that we simply cannot trust to start week to week. Cook has TE1 ability but with Kellen Clemens under center he is not a trustworthy fantasy option. Sit Cook in all but 30 team leagues.
