Two Start Pitchers: Week One

0

On opening week it is mostly number one and two pitchers who will wind up getting two starts, so we will attempt to take a look at a few names that will make two starts but are only owned in a low percentage of leagues.

Edinson Volquez – Volquez is available in 49 percent of Yahoo! leagues and is slated to be the opening day starter for the Padres. The former fantasy stand-out has lost a lot of his lustre after a lackadaisical 2011 but is primed for a bounce back campaign in 2012. Though we are recommending him as a two-start streaming option he may be someone you wish to hold onto even past this week.

Erik Bedard  – Bedard is available in 61% of Yahoo! leagues and is probably the best option of low percentage owned two-start pitchers for week one of the fantasy baseball season.

Kyle Lohse – Lohse is a steady pitcher and is someone two-start streamers may want to get familiar with. He does not post sexy ratios but is effective when not up against elite clubs. He is available in 74 percent of Yahoo! leagues and will be one of the best streaming options this week.

Carl Pavano – Pavano is no longer a sexy fantasy name but he always possess’ the ability to help your fantasy team when he is in the position to get two-starts a week. As with Lohse, his ratios are not starter worthy but can really help roto league players looking for good streaming options. Pavano is available in 98 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Jeremy Guthrie – Guthrie may not be a viable streaming option as the season wears on but with lesser competition early in the schedule this seems like the perfect week to employ him as a two-start option. Guthrie is available in 97 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
