Waiver Wire: Tyler Colvin, OF, Colorado Rockies

6 July 2012 No Comment

The Rockies have been playing dismal of late and are now 20 games south of .500.  Their struggling season can mostly be attributed to one of the worst starting pitching rotations the game has ever seen.  However, their usually potent offense has been somewhat sputtering as well.

One silver lining for the Rockies, not named Carlos Gonzalez, has been outfielder Tyler Colvin.  Colvin has been one of the hottest players in baseball the past few weeks en route to a .301 AVG, 11 HR, and 37 RBI in just 172 ABs.  Not bad for a guy who hasn’t even started most of the season.

Colvin’s continued production has warranted a well-deserved starting spot in Colorado’s lineup.  He should see plenty of opportunities going forward with Todd Helton struggling and batting behind Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer.

The Colorado outfielder is owned in just 12.5 percent of ESPN fantasy baseball leagues and 12 percent of Yahoo! fantasy baseball leagues.
