Week Eight Rankings

In week seven we saw Odell Beckham take another step towards fantasy football stardom and we also witnessed Tre Mason stake his claim to the starting running back job for the St. Louis Rams. We also saw Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller both fall to injury and Jerick Mckinnon looking like he belongs as a starting running back in the NFL.

At wide receiver Jordy Nelson remains atop the mountain for week eight while T.Y Hilton has secured the number eight spot in our rankings. It appears that the WR1 pool is dwindling and many of the players we thought would have at least WR2 value are looking more like WR3’s thus far. AJ Green and Megatron come in at number two and three respectively and Sammy Watkins has taken what looks like a permanent place among WR2’s.

At the running back position Ronnie Hillman and Tre Mason continue to impress and are RB2 options for week eight while Jerick Mckinnon also cracks RB2 status following his promotion to starter. We currently have Bryce Brown over Anthony Dixon for the Bills but expect the two to split carries pretty evenly until one establishes himself as the temporary feature back. Doug Martin’s stock continues to fall and Jonathan Stewart is nothing more than a desperation play against a sure to be angry Seahawks defense.

At quarterback Matthew Stafford has fallen out of the top ten until Calvin Johnson proves he is healthy and Nick Foles is still more streamer than every week QB1. Terry Bridgewater, Blake Bortles and Derek Carr all have varying degrees of QB2 upside and appear to be signal callers that will be around for a long time to come. Russell Wilson has been a monster on the ground the past few weeks and gets bumped up in our rankings until which time he stops tearing up defenses with his legs.

At tight end Antonio Gates continues to impress after the majority of football ‘pundits’ wrote him off this summer. Jordan Cameron has been a disappointment for most of the season and as expected Jace Amaro showed some inconsistency in week seven and now figures to be even moreso with Percy Harvin in town. Jimmy Graham is ranked all the way down at number four this week as we wait to regain full health and be used as more than an oversized decoy. Gavin Escobar makes his debut on our rankings and maybe Romo’s preferred tight end in the red zone as Witten has posted low TD numbers that last couple of years.

And without further adieu here are our rankings for week eight of the fantasy football season:
