TE Rankings
The WMFL team brings you their tight end rankings and also discusses the discrepancy in some of their rankings.
Rizzla (3): I am in love with Finley’s monster upside with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. Rodgers has a lot of mouths to feed but knows his athletic tight end poses the most matchup problems for opponents when healthy. Aside from Graham and Gronkowski I cannot name another tight end with a higher ceiling in standard formats.
Zach (7): Finley is just another guy with a heaping amount of size and talent that has struggled to stay healthy. I’ve been really high on Finley in years past but all that has produced is him letting me down. He had a career year last year but still only started 13 games. His 767 yards and 8 TD are good but not enough for me to put him past seventh among fantasy tight ends.
Aaron Hernandez
Rizzla (8): I like Aaron Hernandez a lot but I am reasonably certain he will see a drop in fantasy value with the addition of Brandon Llyod to the New England Patriots. Llyod is in line for 80+ targets and I believe Welker and Hernandez will be the ones giving them up in the passing game.
Zach (3): The two clear-cut fantasy tight ends to have are Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham. After those two it gets subjective. I’m going with Hernandez at No. 3, though. I know the Patriots have a lot of options on offense, but that just makes me think that Hernandez can fly under the radar like he did last season. While everyone was talking about Gronk, and rightly so, Hernandez was busy collecting 910 yards and 7 TD himself. This “backup” tight end is a sure-fire TE1 in fantasy leagues. I expect solid numbers from Hernandez again in 2012.
