2018 Fantasy Basketball Rankings: Points Leagues

While we took a look at the debates at the top of each position in our head to head rankings piece, here we will take a look at which rookies ranked highest at each position.

At the center position our number one ranked rookie is DeAndre Ayton of the Phoenix Suns. The big man is set to go off this year and should have a monster campaign threatening 20-10-1.5 with great percentages for the Phoenix Suns. While popular belief is that Devin Booker will cap Ayton’s upside we here at Win My Fantasy League have another take, namely the presence of a dynamic scorer such as Booker will open up the floor for Ayton to find room both on the perimeter and in the paint on screens and rolls.

At power forward our top ranked rookie is again Deandre Ayton since he qualifies at both but it is in fact Jaren Jackson, who while still incredibly raw and young seems to have secured himself a rotation spot in the Grizzlies front court and both the four and five, who comes in at number two over names like Marvin Bagley and Kevin Knox.

At small forward our top ranked rookie is Mikal Bridges of the Phoenix Suns who comes in slightly ahead of Miles Bridges and Kevin Knox as of today. Mikal projects as having the most fantasy friendly game when blocks, steals and percentages are added to the equation and thus he is currently ahead of his rookie counterparts in our small forward rankings.

At shooting guard and point guard our top ranked rookie is the Euro sensation with dual eligibility. It also appears that Luka Doncic is just a few regular season games away from qualifying at power forward giving the rookie true positional versatility in the Yahoo game. Doncic has fantasy star written all over him and playing at power forward should allow him to garner a lot more rebounds than he would have at shooting guard so this is a huge boost to his fantasy value. Projecting Doncic’s numbers are tricky due to the uncertainty regarding how high his usage rate will be and how large of a point forward role he will be asked to pay when Dennis Smith Jr. is also on the floor once the regular season begins.

Draft day is almost upon us and there’s no better time to dig deep into our fantasy basketball rankings for points leagues. Many questions will be answered such as how high should I draft Stephen Curry? What about Westbrook? What about Joel Embiid? How high should DeAndre Ayton go? These questions and more are answered in our rankings, be check them out and check in frequently as we will be updating them up until opening night.
