Waiver Wire Rankings – Week 4 (2019 Fantasy Football)

0

Rizzla takes a look at the hottest pickups for Week 4 of the 2019 fantasy football season in his his latest waiver wire rankings.

Running Backs

Darrel Williams played the number two role for the Kansas City Chiefs busting thousands of DFS teams in the process. He actually logged more snaps, touches and yards than the injured LeSean McCoy with the latter leaving the game late with an aggravation of his ankle injury. Damien Williams has frustrated Andy Reid to no end with his injury issues and it is a good bet Darrel has earned himself a role and Damien’s expense going forward. Available in 94 percent of Yahoo leagues Darrel Williams should be added in deeper formats. The 76 percent available Rex Burkhead looked rock solid in Week 3, outplaying Sony Michel in the process. With James White absent from the team for the birth of his child Burkeahd logged 17 touches for 62 and a score. He will revert to his number three role in Week 4 but is someone to stash on the end of benches in deeper leagues. 96 percent available Jeff Wilson is doing his best LeGarrette Blount impression and has now logged two rushing touchdowns for the second consecutive week. 80 percent available Alexander Mattison is well worth a deep league bench stash. He is stuck behind workhorse Dalvin Cook, but proved this week that he can have some useful outings despite limited touches. Perhaps the top handcuff in fantasy football, Mattison is one injury away from RB1 upside. Finally, barring a free agent addition, Wayne Gallman is slated to take over lead back duties for the New York Giants. Saquon Barkley has will be out for the next four to eight weeks with a high ankle sprain leaving the 94 percent available running back in line for a heavy workload. Gallman is a below average NFL running back so expectations should be tempered. He could have some volume based appeal as a RB3 with RB2 upside.

Wide Receivers

68 percent available Phillip Dorsett had his welcome back party on Sunday afternoon. He hauled in six of his seven targets for 53 yards and a touchdown. He added 12 rushing yards off two carries for good measure. Dorsett has fantasy value as long as Jakobi Meyers remains held in check. Mysteriously unowned in 59 percent of Yahoo leagues, D.J. Chark has emerged as Gardner Minshew’s top receiver. In Week 3 he hauled in four of his five targets for 76 yards and a touchdown. 96 percent available Diontae Johnson appears to have secured the number two receiver role in Pittsburgh, and while that role will not be nearly what it was poised to be with Big Ben under center, it should still be a role that provides consistent opportunity based fantasy value. Adam Humphries had what could very well be his best game as a Titan in Week 3. He hauled in six of his nine targets for 63 yards. It is only a matter of time before Tennessee decides to give A.J. Brown more slot snaps, a move that will limit Humphries’ reception upside. Available in 94 percent of leagues he is still a solid bye week filler in deeper formats. Cole Beasley hauled in eight of his ten targets for 48 yards. Available in 92 percent of Yahoo leagues, he is worth a sniff in deeper formats. Available in 82 percent of Yahoo leagues, Kenny Stills appears to have passed Keke Coutee on the depth chart. Add him where possible as he is just one injury away from weekly WR2 upside and a WR3 floor. Dante Pettis has been a severe disappointment this season but showed some signs of life in Week 3. He hauled in his first touchdown of the season and saw four more targets against the Steelers than he had seen all season. He is someone to stash at the end of benches in the 76 percent of leagues he is available. Available in 97 percent of Yahoo leagues Preston Williams was targeted 12 times by Josh Rosen. Williams is Rosen’s number one receiver. Act accordingly. Available in 63 percent of Yahoo leagues Golden Tate is returning to a Daniel Jones led Giants team in Week 5. Add him wherever possible. Tate should quickly assume the to target role in New York and gives Jones his most reliable weapon at wideout. Taylor Gabriel lit it up on Monday Night with three touchdowns. Available in 96 percent of leagues, Gabriel hauled in six of his seven targets for 74 yards. James Washington should be stashed in deep leagues. Diontae Johnson is the first man up, but Washington could see his role expanded in Johnson fails to impress. He is available in 76 percent of Yahoo leagues.

Tight ends

The 99 percent available Dawson Knox finally showed up for the Buffalo Bills. He hauled in three of his four targets for 67 yards and a touchdown. Featured in my impact rookie tight end piece for FantasyPros, Knox is legit. With several tight ends causing headaches for fantasy owners, Knox may be someone to kick the tires on. Despite his Week 2 breakout and recommendation here, Will Dissly remains on the wires in 44 percent of leagues. He followed up his Week 2 with a six reception, 62 yard and a score outing against the New Orleans Saints. If you need a tight end he should be one of the top two names on your claim list.

Daniel Jones looked as good as expected from a fantasy perspective in Week 3. He threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns. He added 28 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He is the first rookie QB since 1970 to record 300 yards, two passing touchdowns, and two rushing touchdowns. He will not look this good every week but should be able to maintain value with his scrambling ability. He is available in 84 percent of Yahoo leagues.
