2013 TE Rankings
Looking ahead to the 2013 fantasy football season there are quite a few tight ends who will all compete to finish as a top-15 option. It should be an interesting season with a number of new names looking to change the fantasy landscape. We will attempt to split the tight ends into tiers to allow for better assessment come draft day.
Tier One
With Rob Gronkowski injured Jimmy Graham resides atop tier one all by his lonely. He remains Drew Brees’ number one receiver and is worth consideration after the top three wideouts come off of the board.
Tier Two
Tier two is empty this year as we try to highlight the true gap between Graham and the rest of the tight ends in the league.
Tier Three
Tier three includes Rob Gronkowski who would be in tier one if healthy. Gronkowski is joined by Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten and Vernon Davis who should have a solid season with Crabtree on the mend.
Tier Four
Tier four has three high upside players in Kyle Rudolph who would be in tier two if he had a competent QB, Jermichael Finely who will explode if he finally has his head on straight and Antonio Gates who is looking as good as he has in years.
Tier Five
These are the tight ends you will be considering later in your draft who all have TE1 upside. The self-proclaimed ‘Black Unicorn’ Martellus Bennett should find solid fantasy value catching passes from Jay Cutler. Jared Cook is set for a post-hype breakout teamed with Sam Bradford. Owen Daniels and Greg Olsen look set to reprise their roles as solid but unspectacular TE1 options.
Tier Six
Tier six has a few TE1 candidates in Dustin Keller, Jordan Cameron, Rob Housler, Fred Davis and Brent Celek. Cameron finds himself in a TE friendly system while Davis, Keller and Celek should essentially function as their team’s number two wideouts due to a lack of talent on their teams wide receiver depth charts. 6’5” Housler is tied to Carson Palmer who loves to exploit mismatches, while Myers and Pettigrew should also be peppered with targets. Gresham remains solid but has to deal with Eifert which caused him to be ranked lower than he would have been otherwise. Thats twenty tight ends with TE1 upside.
Tier Seven
This is your upside TE2 tier. Most of these names have the talent to be TE1’s but only twelve will actually make the cut when the fantasy season is all said and done.
This is a fluid list and we will be updating it daily. Check back as often as needed in order to ensure your success in fantasy football drafts.
