2015 Fantasy Football Overvalued and Busts
Justin Forsett – Forsett is a PPR dynamo and should be considered an upside RB2 with an Rb4 floor due to the presence of sleeper rookie back Javorius Allen who is tailor made for the Ravens offense and has the passing game chops and superior running skills to really put the heat of journeyman Forsett
Andre Ellington – Ellington always possesses sky high upside but carries with him the threat of a shared backfield as well as injury. Ellington is solid high upside mid tier RB2 but the threat of missing games and/or ceding work to David Johnson drops him to low end RB2 status even in PPR leagues.
CJ Spiller – Spiller will have a solid role and may produce a lot more than some expect but his current ECR may cause owners to reach for him when this backfield still belongs to Mark Ingram who is also playable in the passing game. Spiller should get a lot of targets and if you can land him as your RB3 you could be in for a great season as an RB2 be prepared for inconsistency.
Lamar Miller – Lamar Miller has always pass the eye test on paper but has not truly broke out yet and with Jay Ayaji looming large we expect Miller to eventually be supplanted as starter and play the change of pace role he may thrive in a la Gio Bernard.
Latavius Murray – As much as we like Murray we think the coaching staff may spoon feed Trent Richardson and that Roy Helu will also see significant snaps in this backfield causing us to look at him as more of a RB3 than an RB2
Chris Ivory – Let me preface this by saying that I am a Chris Ivory fan, I love his running style and believe that he has better hands than he is given credit for. Unfortunately the situation in New York is not ideal and he will be losing passing down snaps until he instills some trust with his coaches. View him as nothing more than an upside RB3 with high job security.
Doug Martin – Doug Martin is getting some pub as looking more like his rookie version than what we have seen recently and if this is true we will be bumping him up a bit, but until proven otherwise this is Charles Sims’ backfield to lose
Rashad Jennings – Jennings is being overdrafted, he is the Giants jack of all trades, master of none as Andrew Williams is a far superior runner and Shane Vereen is the far superior passing down back. With that said Jennings will still see snaps and is a viable bench or bye week filler but he should not be drafted to start on your team or you may find yourself extremely disappointed this season.
Joseph Randle – Randle currently has control of this backfield but that can change quickly from a variety of angles. First and foremost, Jerry Jones loves, and I mean loves Darren McFadden who when healthy is still a very special back who is a top ten ‘talent’, Secondly the Cowboys have publicly lamented not picking up a rookie back that leads one to believe they are not happy with their current crop of backs (especially after all the recent injuries) so the Cowboys picking up a street agent or one of the backs who get cut is legitimately in the realm of possibilities.
Joique Bell – Ameer Abdullah is more talented, period.
DeVonta Freeman – Freeman is a very exciting back but one cannot expect him to truly compete with a back in Coleman who was handpicked for this system and fits it like a glove. I do expect both to see significant snaps and share the backfield but Coleman is the better fantasy pick and value here. Look at Freeman as an flex2 with RB3 upside if Coleman does not make it through the year.
