With the season just mere hours away fantasy owners across the globe are scrambling to make last minute adjustments to their fantasy squads.
Despite no football being played yet there are quite a few potential waiver wire values sitting there seemingly unappreciated all off-season. Some names just missed the under 45 percent ownership cutoff such as Tyler Lockett (50% owned), DJ Moore (47%), Keelan Cole (55%), Kenny Golladay (55%), James White (49%) and Matt Breida (49%).
We will take a look at a few of the names who should likely be owned in all competitive leagues and project to be your top FAAB targets in week two.
Jordan Wilkins – Available in 67 percent of Yahoo leagues Wilkins has been tabbed as the starter for the Colts week one tilt against the Bengals. Make the add immediately roster permitting in all league sizes. Wilkins has a strong opportunity to assume the lead back role in Indianapolis as injured backfield mate, and presumed starter when healthy in Marlon Mack profiles more as a committee back than a true workhorse despite his versatility. Add Wilkins as a week one RB3 who has a legitimate chance to stake his claim there for the rest of the season.
Donte Moncrief – With Marqise Lee out for the season Donte Moncrief will be given every opportunity to become the Jaguars number one receiver after receiving nine million plus this off season as a free agent. Moncrief will line up as the starter across from Keenan Cole and has vintage Allen Robinson upside. Available in 83 percent of Yahoo leagues Moncrief has the makings of an upside WR3 this season, not only this week. Make the add wherever possible.
Danny Amendola – With Jarvis Landry out of town and DeVante Parker banged up Amendola looks set to soak up a significant share of the left over targets and should operate both in the slot and out wide against the Titans. Amendola is no smart bet to play all sixteen games this season but if you are an Alshon Jeffery or even a DeVante Parker owner and your league has IR slots Amendola could be a really solid week one flex play. Available in 71 percent of Yahoo leagues Amendola is a sharp play for those who may already be experiencing a roster crunch.
Michael Gallup – Available in 66 percent of Yahoo leagues Gallup needs to be owned as the Cowboys best receiver and arguably their best route runner as well. The rookie receiver may not be a true number one wideout in Dallas but he should lead the team in both yards and touchdowns when all is said and done. Gallup is a strong addition for those nursing injuries or who may be sporting lower floor options on their rosters.
Josh Doctson – Available in 56 percent of Yahoo leagues Doctson barely met the cutoff for this list. Docston seems primed to finally live up to his potential this year if he can stay healthy and will operate as Jay Gruden’s AJ Green. Blessed with WR2 talent Doctson has been a colossal disappointment thus far in his career but gets a quarterback upgrade in the always underrated and accurate Alex Smith. If Doctson can avoid the injury bug we could be looking at a top-30 fantasy performer.
Chris Godwin – Available in 69 percent of Yahoo leagues Chris Godwin has the opportunity to make a big sophomore jump. Inexplicably buried behind Adam Humphries on the depth chart all last season Godwin mad major strides to end the 2017-2018 campaign and carried it over to the summer where he performed well enough to be listed as the co. number two starter at wideout with DeSean Jackson. Godwin projects with upside bench value to start the season as Ryan Fitzpatrick will be under center but could quickly turn into a solid flex2 when Jameis is back under center. Add Godwin in deeper leagues where your end of bench may not have as much upside.
John Ross – Available in 75 percent of Yahoo leagues John Ross is flying under the radar for most fantasy owners after a lost rookie season has owners looking elsewhere for upside bench options. Not only a speed demon Ross can also run crisp routes, an ability that will help him thrive in single coverage across from star wideout AJ Green. Ross has the makings of a weekly upside flex2 play who could morph into an exciting WR3/flex by week two. Get him on the end of your bench instead of blowing a large portion of your FAAB on him down the line.
John Brown – Available in 81 percent of Yahoo leagues it seems fantasy owners have written off the talented former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver. Now a member of the Baltimore Ravens with a cannon armed quarterback Brown seems poised to threaten his career highs of. As touched on here Brown is over the health issues that plagued him the last few years and is ready to become a household fantasy football name. Brown projects as the 1b in Baltimore across from Michael Crabtree and should post WR3 worthy numbers at the very least. Add the talented wideout where possible.
