Alvin Kamara came out like gangbusters in the first quarter of the season more than doubling the points of the RB12 and holding a 7.4 point per game edge over the talented Todd Gurley. Adrian Peterson grinding his way to the a fantasy RB1 stretch was one of the more feel good stories of the first quarter.

James Conner started on a serious roll for the Steelers in the second quarter of the season though Todd Gurley was not far behind as far as fantasy points go. Conner’s sustained emergence made the Steelers offensive line and management send cold signals to the unsigned Le’Veon Bell muddying the chances the all pro back actually returned before the franchise tag deadline.

Saquon Barkley continued his torrid start to his rookie season surpassing the one thousand yards from scrimmage mark (519 rushing, 497 receiving) in his first eight games. Barkley looked to be on pace for a potential 1k/1k season and Barkley’s 58 first half receptions also put him on pace to shatter the running back receptions record.

The third quarter of the season at the running back position was highlighted by Christian McCaffrey looking like the best fantasy back on the planet but also by the emergence of a few new names in the RB1 conversation for this season and beyond in Aaron Jones, and rookies Philip Lindsay and Nick Chubb.

Ezekiel Elliott was another highlight as he saw a major production spike following the acquisition of star wideout Amari Cooper from the Oakland Raiders.

The fourth quarter of the season saw the return of Dalvin Cook to the RB1 arena, while waiver wire adds Jaylen Samuels and Damien Williams proved that a variety of skill sets could flourish in their respective offenses. Tarik Cohen also made an appearance in the top twelve for the second time this season, continuing to impress for the Chicago Bears despite the presence of ‘starter’ Jordan Howard.

As always we will be updating our rankings up until kickoff so be sure to check back often for our latest updates and thoughts.
