Michael Thomas and Adam Thielen were the storylines of the first quarter of the season. Both were on insane record breaking receptions paces while Thomas’ catch rate was among the best in history and Thielen had posted four straight 100 yard receiving games.
In terms of surprise WR1’s Cooper Kupp and Will Fuller are two names that stuck out to the casual fantasy owner while Golden Tate being a top four option was also welcomed news for owners who drafted him as their WR2 or WR3.
With Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison banged up Davante Adams became a man on a mission and led all receivers with a 27.5 point average in the seasons second quarter. Surprise names to make the WR1 list included Tyrell Williams who was expected to be playing behind Mike Williams this season and some receiver named David Moore who became a standout red zone weapon for Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks.
Tyreek Hill went bananas in the seasons third quarter with his 29.6 fantasy point average being a high watermark for the 2018 fantasy football season for any quarter of the virtual game. Stefon Diggs finally started converting his high volume of targets into fantasy production in turn making Adam Thielen disappear from the WR1 ranks. The biggest surprise name of the third quarter was Tre’Quan Smith who exploded for a ten reception, 157 yard and a touchdown game in week eleven against the banged up Philadelphia Eagles secondary.
Robby Anderson muscled his way into the WR1 ranks in the final quarter of the season joining familiar names in T.Y. Hilton, Doug Baldwin and Amari Cooper who made a statement to the fantasy world saying ‘I am here’ or better yet, ‘I am still here’, reminding the fantasy world just how talented they are when they are healthy and playing in a offense with a healthy and competent quarterback.
