Week one sure was a crazy one; from upsets to waiver wire wonders showing their faces in their season debuts we have a lot to cover this week so we will get right into it.
Phillip Dorsett – The former first round pick has found a new lease of his NFL life after a exciting seven reception, 66 yard and a touchdown performance versus the Houston Texans. Dorsett’s seven targets led all Patriots wide receivers and was two more than Chris Hogan’s five. Dorsett offers a unique skill set compared to the Pats other receivers and should remain a solid upside flex play even when Julian Edelman returns unless Corey Coleman can magically stick with the Pats after being traded by the Browns and cut by the receiver needy Bills. Available in 95 percent of Yahoo leagues Dorsett will be one of the hottest adds this week and will likely cost you a significant portion of your FAAB if he is not already owned in your league.
Kenny Golladay – Kenny Golladay had a coming out party on Monday Night Football to the tune of seven receptions off of 12 targets for 114 receiving yards. Though he is already owned above our usual cutoff number coming in at a still surprisingly small 54% ownership, Golladay needs to be added in all competitive leagues. There is a good chance that the target totem pole remains the same in Detroit as what we saw in week one for most of the remainder of the season. Add Golladay where available as a wWR4/flex.
Jared Cook – Written off by most after a disappointing 2017 campaign Cook exploded in week one to the tune of nine receptions off of 12 targets for 180 yards. With Derek Carr being suffocated by the elite Rams secondary he continued to look to his safety valves in Cook and third string running back and top receiving back Jalen Richard. Cook gets a special mention here despite being owned in 52% of leagues as this number is destined to jump to over 80% following his performance and the injury to Greg Olsen. Add Cook where needed, even if it is only to block the poor Greg Olsen owner.
Desean Jackson – Mysteriously available in 74 percent of Yahoo leagues Desean Jackson was on fire in week one against the Saints with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center. Jackson lit the Saints up for 146 yards and two touchdowns off five receptions and put the fantasy world on notice: He’s still got it. Jackson remains a boom or bust weekly proposition but is still one of the leagues preeminent explosive deep threats. Add Jackson where possible potentially for cheaper due to the concussion he suffered late in the fourth potentially scaring rival owners off from allocating precious FAAB resources to acquire his services.
Phillip Lindsay – Granted permission by Hall of Famer and Broncos legend Terrell Davis to dust off the no. 30 jersey Lindsay did TD proud with a stellar 102 yards from scrimmage in his NFL debut. Lindsay racked up 71 rushing yards on 15 carries and nabbed two of his three targets for 31 yards. Lindsay is looking like a must add in 12 team leagues as the Broncos new no. 2 running back and upside flex2 option on a Broncos team that will need to rely on its run game and defense until they turn to Chad Kelly or bring in a new starting quarterback. Lindsay is available in 93 percent of Yahoo leagues and should be added wherever possible roster permitting.
Names we mentioned last week who are still hovering under 50% ownership include: Donte Moncrief at 85 percent available, John Brown at 80 percent availability, John Ross at 75 percent availability, Chris Godwin at 70 percent availability and Jordan Wilkins at 65 percent availability.
Quincy Enunwa – Enunwa had a strong debut to the 2018 season corralling six of his ten targets for 63 yards and a touchdown. What is most notable is no other player on the team had more than even three targets. Darnold’s rapport with Robby Anderson will grow week to week but it is Enunwa who looks to have emerged as the clubhouse favorite to lead the team in receptions. Available in 90 percent of yahoo leagues Enunwa has the makings of a solid flex ppr option especially when dealing with injuries or byes.
Ryan Grant – Operating as the de facto number two receiver after the preseason loss of impressive rookie Deon Cain Grant had a solid debut and has emerged as a deeper league ppr option. Available in 97 percent of Yahoo leagues Grant looks like an upside bench stash in ppr leagues who should slot in well as a flex2 option once bye weeks start rolling around. Make the add where needed.
Brandon Marshall – Available in 90 percent of Yahoo leagues Marshall looks to be in line for a large role expansion with Doug Baldwin expected to miss a few weeks with a ucl injury. Marshall projects as a high upside flex2 option who should be a lower waiver priority this week in all of the shallowest of leagues or the strongest of rosters. Add Marshall roster permitting.
Nyheim Hines – After a piss poor preseason, offseason favourite Nyheim Hines put up a solid seven reception NFL debut. Hines may not have a large role as a runner, especially after Marlon Mack is healthy considering his meager five carries, but should remain a weapon in pass game with the Colts devoid of receiving talent outside of TY Hilton in the receivers room. Available in most non dynasty leagues (95% available) Hines is a solid budget conscious FAAB addition in deeper ppr formats. Make the add where needed.
Jalen Richard – Richard gets a mention here due to his ppr league upside. He still profiles more as a deeper league asset like some of the names below but the Raiders should be playing from behind most days which means Richard should have a weekly role. Available in 99 percent of Yahoo leagues Richard should be added where possible especially in full point ppr formats after his nine reception week one.
Will Dissly – this is another name that we’d usually feature below but with Greg Olsen going down and Cook likely owned in most competitive formats Dissly had to be highlighted after his 105 yards off of three receptions in week one. Add Dissly as a deep dart throw TE2 who could return TE1 value the rest of the way.
Deeper league targets: Austin Ekeler, Javorius Allen, TJ Yeldon, Chase Edmonds, Jakeem Grant, Dante Pettis, Willie Snead,
