Rizzla takes a look at the Titans acquisition of Adam Humphries, and discusses the fantasy context.
The Tennessee Titans significantly upgraded their offense with the acquisition of slot dynamo Adam Humphries. According to NFL.com the Titans signed him to a 4 year, $36 million dollar deal.
Adam Humphries will add a new dimension to the Titans passing attack. Under utilized in a crowded, and talented Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense, Humphries could be headed for a true breakout. He should provide Marcus Mariota with a reliable chain mover,, and help divert some attention from Corey Davis and Derrick Henry.
Fantasy Context:
Adam Humphries gets a nice value boost with the move to Music City. Humphries is seemingly locked into the slot role for the foreseeable future, and should develop instant chemistry with Marcus Mariota. Humphries is an upside WR3/WR4 type who should see a handful of WR2 weeks. In dynasty leagues Humphries is a solid sell high candidate while the euphoria of Adam Humphries finally getting a consistent role lingers in the fantasy air.
Corey Davis actually stands to benefit from the Adam Humphries acquisition. Hear me out. While Davis will undoubtedly lose target share, he should actually see an increase in volume with the Titans new found ability to sustain drives. Davis remains a mega upside WR2 with a WR3 floor, and may actually come at a discount in redraft and startups that occur over the next week or so.
Marcus Mariota sees his fantasy floor raised with this move. He has not become a starting option yet but he is now among the top tier second QB options in superflex, and should also be an upside streamer and bye week filler. Mariota still possesses a ton of upside but needs to prove his health and that he will be able to take advantage of all of the tools at his disposal, including his legs. Mariota is a top-20 QB who could be in the QB1 mix with another key addition at wide receiver.
