Okay, maybe that is going a little too far, but besides Mark Clayton and the oft-injured Donnie Avery, this corps has a bunch of uninspiring, if not Bradford-made-productive wide receivers.
New offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels sought to change that immediately.
He drafted two wideouts in Gregory Salas and Austin Pettis, both of whom are McDaniels’ type of receivers.
Pettis is a big target for Sam Bradford at 6’3 and is also an excellent route runner with reliable hands.
One thing to note is that Pettis was drafted one pick before Leonard Hankerson who projects as a number one receiver in 2011 for the Redskins.
Pettis may get that chance himself in 2011 with only Mark Clayton blocking his way.
Fantasy Impact:
The addition of Pettis means that some of the Rams rag-tag receiver corps will be looking for new jobs this off-season.
Pettis is a big bodied possession receiver who can do some damage in the red-zone. He had the top 20-yard shuttle time at the combine and will look to excel on shorter routes.
Pettis is certainly not a burner at a 4.56 40-time, but his 20-yard shuttle time shows his great short-area agility and quickness and directly translates to his explosiveness coming out of route cuts and direction changes.
Pettis may surprise a few in Rams nation with his immediate impact.
Pettis projects as a bench option with flex upside in his rookie campaign.
We currently have him ranked at number five for redraft and number eight for dynasty leagues.

I prefer Salas … and Kendricks should be solid for Bradford, as well. Pettis is a solid possession WR and special teamer. They way Sam spreads the ball around, I won’t be drafting Pettis.
Hankerson the #1 WR for skins? Think they’ll re-sign Santana, but that would pretty much guarantee them Luck.
I like Pettis a bit more, I probably wont touch Pettis until I have my starters, flex’s and a couple bench options
He has some upside worthy of taking a year one flier on, it is really hard to peg with free agency yet to get underway
Salas, I love his college production, but have to adjust expectations coming from Hawaii due to so-called ‘gimmick offense’ (whatever that means)
Kendricks should be amazing for Bradford, you are right.
As far as for Hankerson, I have him as the number one as the Redskins should look to develop him right away and Santana Moss despite his production is probably more suited for a #2 role.
I really like Hankerson’s upside…too bad he has no QB..yet
