Lebron, Wade, and Bosh disappoint in opener

Out of ‘the big three,’ Chris Bosh was the most disappointing as he was just 3 for 11 from the field, finishing with only 8 points. He did manage 8 rebounds and 1 block, but so did Udonis Haslem (actually Haslem had 11 boards). Bosh did not have the excuse of being injured during preseason and looked very hesitant at times. He had one amazing baseline move that froze Garnett and led to a nice dunk, but after that he seemed content to just pass it back to Lebron.

Martell Webster out 4-6 weeks: Fantasy Impact

Wesley Johnson is extremely athletic and could provide the scarce steal and threes if given enough minutes. Now that Webster is injured, Johnson is the only fantasy-relevant swingman off the bench, meaning he will likely play both the SG and SF positions.

Fantasy Impact: Dallas Clark & Jermichael Finley Injuries

Right now Anthony Gonzalez appears 4th on the WR depth chart behind Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon, and Austin Collie. But as Adam Schefter of ESPN reports, Collie has just undergone surgery on his hand and is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks. Justin Hasan talks about the optimal opportunity for Gonzalez to get back into the mix.

NBA Fantasy Playoffs Schedule

Justin Hasan breaks down the NBA fantasy playoffs schedule. This is key for head-to-head leagues as you don’t want to load up on players that play the least amount of games in the critical weeks of the fantasy season.

Blake Griffin Fantasy Update

In Blake Griffin’s last 3 preseason games, he has averaged 20 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks per game while shooting over 56%. Do not make the mistake of typecasting him as injury-prone just because he was injured last year. He played over 36 minutes in his last two preseason games, and has shown no ill-effects of his season-ending injury from last year.

High-Risk Hibachi – Fantasy Outlook on Gilbert Arenas

With John Wall at Point Guard, Arenas’ fantasy value will be limited to points, threes, and steals. Help in 3 categories is not much considering he is such a high risk fantasy selection. I would much rather draft O.J. Mayo or Caron Butler than the high-risk ‘hibachi.’

Fantasy Impact: Deion Branch traded to Patriots

There are reports that Tom Brady was in contact with Branch once Moss trade talks were in the works. The fact that the New England QB is asking for him makes him an immediate pickup in all leagues. As receiver stats depend heavily on the chemistry and trust between QB and WR, expect Branch to be targeted often by Brady.

Hot Pickups: Week 6

Last year after 5 weeks, Meachem had only 8 catches and 2 TDs, but finished strong with 45 catches, 722 yards, and 9 touchdowns. On Sunday, he had his best game of 2010, accumulating 72 yards and a touchdown. Although he is listed as the 3rd wideout, look for Drew Brees and the Saints offense to be more productive once Running Backs Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush return. Now is the time to pick up Meachem.

1st Round Fantasy Basketball Draft Kit

Stephen Curry – Throughout his college career, I was impressed with Curry’s performance on a mediocre Davidson team and made sure to draft him last year. In my both my leagues I had snagged him 120th and 127th overall, respectively, and he turned out to be one of the top fantasy players last year. Curry was on fire in the 2nd half of the season, and he should pick up where he left off this year. He will anchor the 3-point, assist and steal categories for your team.
