The number one draft pick from last year is tearing it up this Preseason. After sitting out the entire season last year with a broken knee cap, Blake Griffin may outperform his fantasy expectations this season. In his last 3 preseason games, he has averaged 20 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks per game while shooting over 56%.
Yes, this is preseason and the volume stats will slide when playing the majority of his minutes against higher quality opposing players, but these monster stats are still very encouraging. Do not make the mistake of typecasting him as injury-prone just because he was injured last year. He played over 36 minutes in his last two preseason games, and has shown no ill-effects of his season-ending injury from last year.
After the Nuggets played the Clippers in preseason action on October 12th, Kenyon Martin praised Griffin saying – “He’s crazy-athletic, plays hard, plays the game the right way.” It is not often that you hear comments from the likes of K-Mart after playing an opponent. Add the fact that he is surrounded by the talents of Chris Kaman, Baron Davis, and Eric Gordon, we can expect a strong fantasy year for Blake Griffin.

What round is he currently going in Yahoo 12 team leagues and when would you draft him?
Hey Keith,
In Yahoo leagues, Blake Griffin is currently being drafted on average as the 72nd pick. In my initial rankings, I had him ranked 55th. But with the monster preseason, I would now confidently draft him in the mid 40’s.
