Cedric Benson to be Suspended Three Games: Fantasy Impact

0

In a huge blow to fantasy owners the NFL has decided to hand down a three game suspension to multiple time personal conduct policy offender Cedric Benson.

Benson was arrested this summer for assault and spent a few days in jail since the season began relating to the arrest.

Fantasy Impact:

Bernard Scott – Scott will be the immediate and main beneficiary here as he will get the tab as the starting running back while Benson is out. Benson is on a one year contract and with the Bengals not having any shot at the playoffs to begin with they may decide to anoint Scott the feature back the rest of the season before deciding whether or not to spend an early pick on a runner next April. Scott has been unimpressive in two career starts averaging only 53.5 yards per game, however his 4.7 YPC leads one to believe that there is some upside here.

Brian Leonard – Leonard figures to get some touches in Benson’s absence but with Scott being tabbed as the feature back, Leonard does not have much upside and is not worth a pickup in fantasy leagues. Leonard has started eight games in his career but managed only 32.5 yards per game on a 3.6 YPC average.
