Rizzla discusses his top cost per projected point (CPP) plays for week nine daily fantasy football at FanDuel.
With week nine’s main slate just hours away we take a look at our top CPP plays this weeks GPP contests.
Cam Newton ($344 CPP; $8,600 Salary)
Our top CPP play for week nine at the quarterback position in Cam Newton checks in at a $344 cost per projected point and looks in line for a monster game against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense giving up the most fantasy points to opposing signal callers. Our third overall quarterback this week Newtons $8,600 price tag ranks him fourth among QB’s in terms of FanDuel salary rank. This contest has a massive 55 total which suggests there will be a ton of offensive fireworks in this one and as always Cam will be a threat to find the end zone with his legs in addition to his scores through the air, especially with the injuries to the Bucs defensive front. As per Mike Tagliere’s weekly must-read primer, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have allowed the highest average completion percentage, touchdown rate and yards per attempt to opposing quarterbacks and are destined to surrender a huge game to Cam.
Courtland Sutton ($433 CPP; $5,500 Salary)
Our number two wide receiver CPP play Courtland Sutton squares off against a Texans Defense that surrendered career games to first round busts Devante Parker and Phillip Dorsett. Sutton is our seventeenth overall receiver for week nice and at a price tag of $5,500 is the 46th overall receiver based on FanDuel salary rank. At a CPP of only $433 per projected point Sutton is a tremendous value vs his expected fantasy output. Stepping into a seven target per game role when he already saw 4.9 in his old one, Sutton is bound for an offensive explosion against the Texans banged up secondary.
Adam Thielen ($402 CPP; $8,900 salary)
The number one fantasy wide receiver in the game needs no introduction or ‘puff’ to convince anyone he is a great weekly DFS play. Thielen will look to break Calvin Johnson’s NFL record for consecutive 100 yard receiving games this weekend and should be able to wreak havoc against a Detroit Lions defense whose top playmaker Darius Slay is hobbled by an injury. The Stefon Diggs injury is cause for some concern but Thielen is a receiver who wins with crisp route running as evidenced by his top end three yards of average separation and should in fact be in line for an even bigger day if Diggs is ruled out. At a price tag of $8,900, Thielen comes in at $402 per projected point for week nine versus the Lions.
Kareem Hunt ($406 CPP; $8,500 Salary)
Our number two overall running back Kareem Hunt is our number one CPP play at $406 per projected point. At a price tag of $8,500 he ranks fourth among running backs in terms of salary. Hunt appears to have a cake matchup versus a Cleveland Browns defense allowing the sixth most fantasy points to opposing running backs. The RB6 on the season will feast on the Browns defense, who as pointed out in Tagz’ weekly primer, has been devastated by the run in recent weeks with two running backs posting at least 163 rushing yards and two touchdowns over their past three contests.
Sony Michel ($436 CPP; $7,600 Salary)
Our fifth overall running back for week nine Sony Michel is pegged at a $7,600 salary which is good for 12th overall based on FanDuel’s salary rank. At a $436 cost per projected point Michel will be a tremendous value as the Patriots will look to install a run heavy game plan to keep Aaron Rodgers off the field if Michel suits up. While the Green Bay Packers defense looks solid against the run on paper due to facing the struggling Dalvin Cook and LeSean McCoy, the other top backs they have faced have gashed the Packers for a revealing 103.4 rushing yards per game. As the six point favorites in a game with one of the highest totals of the week at 57, Michel is a threat to find the end zone multiple times.
David Njoku ($506 CPP; $5,200 Salary)
David Njoku is a steal this week at FanDuel. At a salary of $5,200 which is 14th among tight ends, our fifth overall tight end for week nine squares off against a Kansas City Chiefs defense allowing fifth most fantasy points to the position. Our top CPP play this week at $506 per projected point, Njoku is gifted such a low salary rank due to an inexplicable zero target week eight that likely had something to do with Hue Jackson and Todd Haley being terminated. With the Browns now tailoring the offense to suit Baker Mayfield’s air raid strengths, all skill players get a slight upgrade. In a game with a 52.5 total where the Browns are dogs by more than a touchdown they will be forced to air it out which should directly benefit Njoku who leads the Browns in receptions and receiving yards since Baker Mayfield took over if you exclude last weeks aberration.
