Rizzla takes a look at the top cost per projected point (CPP) plays for week seven daily fantasy football over at DraftKings.
Joe Flacco is our top ranked CPP play at the quarterback position coming in at $282 per projected point. At a reasonable $5,400 salary, Flacco is 17th in salary rank while he is 12th in our week seven rankings. Flacco has a plus matchup on tap this week against a New Orleans Saints defense surrendering third most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. With a total of 49 and the Ravens favored in this one expect the NFL’s deep attempts and attempt distance leader to continue to air it out. Start Flacco if you are looking for a high upside, budget conscious option at quarterback this week.
Kirk Cousins also comes in at a $282 CPP but since we profiled him in our FanDuel CPP plays we opted to cover and different QB here, click here to see all the reasons you should try to get Cousins in your DK lineup.
Currently the TE13 David Njoku quietly ranks fourth among tight ends in both targets with 46 and target percentage at a 19.7 mark. Njoku checks in this week with a $4,200 salary which ranks him 9th amongst tight ends. Our fourth overall tight end for week seven Njoku is our top value play this week at $313 per projected point. Sixth among tight ends in receptions the talented sophomore squares off this week against a Buccaneers defense surrendering the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. This is expected to be a high scoring affair with the current over/under sitting at 51.5, and with the Browns projected to take an L in this one (3.5 point underdogs) we can rest assured that Baker Mayfield is going to be forced to air it out. Since Mayfield took over as the starter Njoku leads the Cleveland Browns with 30 targets, 18 receptions and 176 receiving yards, numbers that rank him third, third and seventh among all tight ends. Over that same period David Njoku’s 23 percent target share is third behind only Travis Kelce and Zach Ertz. Based on these numbers it seems that Njoku’s breakout is finally underway, thanks largely in part due to the switch at quarterback from Tyrod Taylor to Baker Mayfield. Start Njoku this weekend where possible.
Due to the late week trade Nick Chubb checks in at a tremendous value this week as our lowest ever running back CPP value at $282 per projected point. At a meager $3,600 Chubb is 53rd among running backs in salary rank but is our 18th overall running back for week seven. Chubb gets a tasty matchup in his first NFL start against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense surrendering the ninth most fantasy points to opposing running backs that will be without stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy for this weekends tilt. There should be plenty of points scored in this one and we expect the Browns to look to get Chubb going early on in this contest. We are projecting Chubb to amass at least 80 yards on the ground and to find the end zone at least once in this Sunday’s contest. Likely to be a popular fade play due to his obvious potential value, take advantage and get Chubb into at least one of your DK GPP lineups.
Sony Michel is our number two overall CPP play this week checking it at $302 per projected point. At a $5,500 salary that ranks 15th among running backs, our eighth ranked back promises plenty of potential value against a banged up Khalil Mack and the Chicago Bears. Bill Belichick has fallen in love with his first round rookie who has amassed an endearing 316 yards and four touchdowns in his three starts since Rex Burkhead was placed on IR. Despite missing a full game and being no better than third on the depth chart for two more contests, Sony Michel is third among running backs with 21 red zone touches, seventh with 91 carries and ninth with 400 total rushing yards. While the Bears are a top four defense against the run so far this season and deeper dive into the numbers reveals that the Bears have faced only two good running backs all season in the struggling David Johnson and Rashaad Penny. The other running backs they have seen this season are Jamaal Williams, Ty Montgomery, Kenyan Drake, Frank Gore, Peyton Barber, Ronald Jones and the surprising Chris Carson. In other words their numbers are terribly misleading and a largely a byproduct of the marked lack of talent they have faced at the position thus far this season. Sony Michel is in line for another big game this weekend and it is time to stop sleeping on the rookie who still has not received a chance to show off his complete game. Start Michel where possible.
Buoyed by his monster game in week six Albert Wilson ranks among the most efficient wide receivers so far this season placing second with 0.80 fantasy points per route, sixth with 2.82 fantasy points per target, seventh with 11.2 yards per target and eleventh with 3.18 yards per route. Our 22nd overall receiver this week Wilson is slotted in as the 53rd overall wideout based on salary rank. Our top CPP value for week seven at $284 per projected point Wilson looks set to go off against the Lions with Brock Osweiler under center once again this week. As evidenced last week Brock should continue to lean on his security blanket and top target against a Detroit Lions defense that has been solid against the pass this season. As three point dogs in a contest with a 46.5 total, the Dolphins are projected to have an appealing amount of pass attempts giving Wilson significant upside in his projected matchup with Teez Tabor. At a cost of just $4,000 Wilson is a strong plug and play for those of us who may be trying to fit high priced options into our lineups.
Josh Gordon looks set for a true breakout game as a member of the Patriots this weekend against a Chicago Bears defense allowing the seventh most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Our number 12 receiver for week seven, Gordon’s $5,600 salary seems like a bargain for his expected production this week. Sitting at a cool $316 CPP Gordon is our number two per projected point value amongst wide receivers. Speaking of receivers, Josh Gordon is tied for the New England Patriots receiver lead with a 0.44 weighted opportunity rating since he entered the lineup and anyone who saw last week’s contest was able to see that Brady is clearly looking to get Gordon going. Josh Gordon led the Patriots in targets in week seven and may very well do so again with Rob Gronkowski doubtful and with the Bears likely to key in on the short passing game and standout rookie running back Sony Michel. Plug Gordon in wherever possible.
