With Sundays game just mere hours away we are excited to bring you our first ever installment of DraftKings GPP Values for week six of the 2018 fantasy football season. The impetus of this piece is to identify potential value plays by juxtaposing our rankings with DraftKings’ salary based rankings.
Jameis Winston is currently our fourth ranked quarterback this week and is slotted in at the 18th overall salary at DraftKings. This week with a tasty matchup on tap against the leaky Atlanta Falcons defense Winston looks like a solid value play for those looking for a budget conscious GPP quarterback as he comes into the week with a salary of only $5,800.
Philip Rivers is our seventh ranked quarterback this week but is 17th in salary rank at $5,900. The book on this one says this is going to be a tough matchup for the Chargers on the road but that is exactly why we are high on him this week. Rivers will be forced to throw in this one and should push for 300 passing yards and at least two touchdowns.
Carlos Hyde was featured as one of our top cost per projected points plays at DraftKings this week so it is no surprise that he also makes our GPP value list as we have him ranked ninth overall this week while Draftkings has him slotted at 25th based on a overall running back salary rank of $4,900. Get Hyde into lineups where possible.
Philip Lindsay has been a revelation for the Denver Broncos. The undrafted free agent has summarily outplayed prized rookie running back Royce Freeman and shows no signs of slowing down despite his lack of featured back size. Lindsay is our 15th overall running back this week and comes in at a salary of only $5,000, good for 24th among running backs at DraftKings.
Chris Carson looks like a potential monster value this week versus the Oakland Raiders. Ranked by DraftKings as a committee back Carson is only $4,400 this week, a salary that has him sitting 34th among running backs. We currently have Carson pegged as our 21st overall running back this week while DraftKings has him 34th. Even though Mike Davis scored last week the fact that he is now behind Carson instead of Rashaad Penny should give owners a sigh of relief.
Austin Ekeler looks like another rock solid play this week and much like Hyde made our CPP list this week for this matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Ekeler has produced standalone fantasy value and in a game that does not look like an easy win look for Ekeler to remain heavily involved in the passing game. Gordon and Ekeler are one of the best duos in the entire NFL and it is time he starts getting noticed. Ekeler is our 23rd overall PPR running back this while DraftKings has him slotted at $4,200, good for 40th among running backs.
Keenan Allen is our third overall wide receiver while DraftKings has him 13th in salary rank at just $7,500. While the price tag is still high the gap between expected performance and salary rank provides some tangible value for the prolific wide receiver. The Chargers are now dogs in this one and if the game script holds true Allen should get plenty of opportunities to deliver the fantasy goods.
Allen Robinson does not have the greatest matchup on paper with Xavien Howard potentially shadowing him this Sunday but we still like Robinson’s matchup against the six foot cornerback. Robinson is our 19th ranked wide receiver this week while at a salary of only $5,700 he slots in as DraftKings 30th ranked receiver.
Amari Cooper is our 22nd overall receiver this week while DraftKings understandably has him slotted at 37th overall at a minute salary of $5,200. Cooper has been the definition of a boom or bust option this year and is shaping up as more of a matchup play as opposed to the WR1 many were banking on to open the season. Cooper has a solid match up against a Seahawks defense that has been burned by every above average receiver they have faced so far this season.
Jordy Nelson has a solid matchup this week against a leaky Seahawks defense. Ranked as our 23rd overall receiver this week Nelson is currently 43rd in salary rank at just $4,900 in the DraftKings game. Nelson will look to find the end zone for the fourth straight game now that Derek Carr is showing a much welcomed affinity for his veteran wide receiver on the red zone. Nelson is riding a hot streak that has seen him put up 246 yards and three touchdowns over his last three games, a time period where he ranks second on the team in targets and receptions.
Doug Baldwin is another solid PPR value this week against a Raiders defense giving up the seventh most points to opposing wide receivers. Baldwin seems set for his breakout game of the season against the lowly Raiders defense and comes in this week as our 24th ranked wide receiver. Baldwin is slotted in as the 34th overall receiver based on salary rank sitting at a budget friendly $5,300. Baldwin does of course come with the low floor risk he has uncharacteristically displayed this season but he has a good chance to go off this week with Russell Wilson sure to be conscious of wanting to finally get his number one wide receiver going.
Mike Williams has seen his production dip in wins but is quietly fourth in fantasy points per target with 2.65 as per our friends at playerprofiler. We have Williams pegged as our 30th overall receiver this week while DraftKings has him 58th at a $4,300 salary. The Chargers are now actually dogs in this one which suggests game script should allow Williams to see a strong fantasy day in what is shaping up to be a tough battle against the Cleveland Browns.
Taylor Gabriel is our 33rd overall ppr receiver this week while DraftKings has him slotted at $4,300, the 59th wide receiver based on salary rank. Anthony Miller is due back this week but now that Mitch Trubisky knows he has a bonafide playmaker in Gabriel it appears that the speedster has secured the number two role in this offense. Gabriel seems in line for another big day this week versus the Dolphins with top target Allen Robinson expected to draw shadow coverage from emerging star cornerback Xavien Howard.
Kenny Stills is only two targets behind team leader Kenyan Drake and one behind Albert Wilson so far this season but has seen more than double the air yards of both receivers with 443 (20th in NFL). Stills our 32nd ranked receiver is in line for a big day against a Bears defense surrendering the tenth most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Stills at $4,700 is slotted as the 46 overall receiver based on DraftKings salary rank and represents tremendous potential value this week in GPP tournaments.
Kyle Rudolph has been one of the more consistent tight ends this season as echoed in our top CPP plays feature as he has scored a touchdown or secured five receptions in each of his contests and finished as a TE1 all but one week when he was TE13. Currently sitting at third in our tight end rankings as our Saturday night Rudolph is sitting at a 10th overall salary rank with a cost of $4,400. The tight end position has been a wasteland so far this year so saddling up with one of the highest floor options in a plus matchup may just be the way you want to go.
Ricky Seals-Jones chimes in this week as our 19th ranked tight end which at first glance may turn one off. But as all GPP players know if you want the prize to yourself you’ll likely have to hit at least one dart. At a cost of only $2,700, which places RSJ 28th among tight ends there is potential value to be had here. While box scores don’t tell the whole tale, RSJ has been third on the team in targets and number one on the team in air yards with Josh Rosen under center. RSJ is ready for a breakout fantasy performance and it could very well come this week versus a Vikings defense that has surrenders the sixth most fantasy points per game to the tight end position.
Darts: Ronald Jones $3,900; Kapri Bibbs $3,000; Royce Freeman $4,100; Taywan Taylor $4,500.
