DeVante Parker Injured Again: Fantasy Context
Talented fourth year wide receiver DeVante Parker has found himself sidelined yet again, this time with a broken finger according to NFL.com’s Kevin Patra.
For all his talent Parker just has not been able to stay healthy throughout his career and has in fact been hampered by injuries for most of the games he has actually suited up for.
This is a make or break it year for the Dolphins wideout who may find himself released over the next offseason if he cannot put it all together on the field.
Fantasy Context:
DeVante Parker – Parker still has the highest upside of any receiver in this offense but may signal the start of a true four man snap rotation further mitigating Parker’s eroded upside. Parker still has the talent and tools to put up WR2 numbers if Ryan Tannehill can be anything close to what the Dolphins hope he can be and, of course, if Parker can stay healthy. As the adage goes in sports, your best ability is availability, and in this case Parker is way behind the eight ball. We have moved Parker all the way from a WR2 after the draft to a WR4 and our current 40th overall ranked receiver.
Albert Wilson – This is a big break for Albert Wilson who seemed to be entrenched as the fourth receiver firmly behind Parker, Kenny Stills and Danny Amendola in week to week projected snap counts. Wilson now has the entire preseason to make the case for a true wide receiver by committee scenario where the Dolphins deploy all four receivers, rotating them to keep them fresh. Wilson is still more of a deep league and best ball option but could be an intriguing DFS play as the season wears on depending on Parker’s health. Wilson can now be expected to backup all three receiver spots, keeping them all fresh.
Kenny Stills/Danny Amendola – Neither receiver sees a value shift with this news as their roles as deep threat and slot receiver were solidified beforehand.
