Dez Bryant is ready to make an impact in the NFL
Dez looked amazing in practice and it is only a matter of time before Dez Bryant supplants Roy Williams as the starter and according to Jennifer Engel of the Fort Werth Star-Telegram….he already has. It is time to bump Dez Bryant up draft boards.
Roy Williams will still get a chance to hold onto the starting job but Dez Bryant was drafted to take Williams place and if the off-season is any indication that process may happen sooner than anyone expected. Williams is still a talented yet inconsistent receiver and will rotate snaps with Bryant and be lined up on the outside in three-wide sets. Dez Bryant’s talent and focus is undeniable.
Dez Bryant appears ahead of schedule and was as many as 2 hours early for practice. He also refused to carry incumbent starter Roy Williams’ shoulder pads as part of some ‘traditional’ rookie hazing which also caused headlines across the NFL.
This may not seem like the biggest deal but it shows that Bryant feels that he is Roy Williams’ equal if not his superior. It also seems to indicate that Bryant feels he will have Williams’ job before the season starts.
Dez Bryant arrived 2 hours early to practice and had this to say about his reasoning:
“”I just wanted him to know I am here to play,” Dez said. “I am here to do whatever they ask me to do. I’m here to work hard, give 100 percent, give my ‘A’ game. I feel like that is the message I sent Mr. Jones.”
Dez said he stepped onto the turf at the Alamodome almost two hours early, deliberately so, to send a message to Owner Jones and teammates and fans and anybody watching about exactly what kind of guy he is, just in case any of the rumors had left anybody confused.”
This kind of dedication shows that Dez Bryant is indeed going to be something special, it is refreshing to see athletes with so much natural talent with the work ethic and desire to become great.
Dynasty league G.M’s it is time to give Bryant a major bump up your draft boards and cheat sheets, Bryant has the talent to be a top-5 receiver in this league and that original time-frame of at least a year seems to be incorrect. Bryant will without much doubt win the starting job from Roy Williams and may emerge as the Cowboys top receiver in the 2nd half of the season. Acquire at all costs.
Redraft owners target Bryant as a solid flex play with WR3 upside in the 1st half of the season and WR2 upside in the 2nd half of the season. The sky is the limit for this ultra-talented rookie.
