Dynasty League G.M Corner – Week 2

1

Welcome to week 2 of Dynasty League G.M Corner for the 2010 Fantasy Football season. This week we will cover most of the fantasy relevant rookies including Sam Bradford who is working his way to solid QB2 status.

clausenThe Jimmy Clasuen era is set to begin in Carolina as Matt Moore was benched late in Carolina’s loss to the surprising Buccaneers, Coach John Fox said that Jimmy Clausen will be the starter going forward. This move gives all Panthers skill players a slight upgrade in value. Clausen is nothing more than a bye week filler in deeper redraft leagues, but should not be left on the wire in any dynasty leagues.

Demaryius Thomas had 8 catches for 97 yards and a touchdown and looks like he may be the go-to guy in Denver.

Thomas has a ton of skill and displayed some of the reason why he was selected over Dez Bryant. Demaryius Thomas has legit #1 potential and will likely finish the season as a low-end WR2.

Grab him if he is still available in daily waiver leagues and he is worth the waiver claim in deeper leagues. Dynasty league managers will want to make a move for him if he is on your wire or make a offer to obtain the rookie before its too late.

Brandon Pettigrew had 7 catches for 108 yards. Pettigrew is a better overall tight-end than Scheffler but they may lose snaps ot each-other ans Tony Scheffler is a more dangerous receiver. After Nate Burelson went down the Eagles were able to key on Scheffler which allowed Pettigrew to explode. Look for this trend to continue if Burleson is out for an extended period.

Aaron Hernandez had 6 catches for 101 yards for the New England Patriots and is Win My Fantasy League’s pick to lead all Patriots tight-ends in value.

Dez Bryant returned a punt 62 yards to the house and added 2 catches for 52 yards for 114 all-purpose yards. He has immense potential and should be acquired in all formats, it may be well worth your rival G.M’s asking price. Mike Williams of the Buccaneers scored yet again and finished the day with 2 catches for 54 yards. Mike Williams is a fantasy WR1 in the making. The Buccaneer has now scored in his first two games as an NFL pro and is living up to the preseason hype and than some. Acquire in all formats.

Jahvid Best was a true fantasy beast this past Sunday and had 17 carries for 78 yards and 2 rushing TD’s, he also added 9 catches for 154 yards and 1 TD including a 75 yard catch. He is a beast pure and simple and is a sell-high candidate in dynasty leagues, however his upside has shown and there are not many other player with his type of opportunity, coaches self-professed love and home-run ability, so it has to be the right deal.

C.J Spiller only had 1 carry for the Bills and chipped in 4 receptions for 23 yards. Marshawn Lynch was the featured back in this contest and with the Bills set to be behind in most of their contests C.J Spiller is a solid buy-low candidate.

Sam Bradford threw for 167 yards and 2 TD’s and has found his go-to receiver in fellow Sooner Mark Clayton. Maybe their alma matter had something to do with their instant chemistry, either way both players need to be rostered whenever available.

Ryan Mathews suffered an ankle injury and had only 5 carries for 26 yards but managed to add 2 receptions for 29 yards. He fumbled the ball again and these ball security issues are beginning to be worrisome.

Jordan Shipley had 5 catches again and is worth an add in deeper PPR leagues. He is a must-add in dynasty leagues as he has an obvious and growing rapport with quarterback Carson Palmer.

Golden Tate will have a larger role going forward and it is about time as he is arguably the most talented receiver on this roster with Mike Williams. He is worth an add due to his upside. We are expecting a mid-season breakout.

Mardy Gilyard will have an increased role going forward as Spags is realizing that Gilyard despite not having a firm grasp on the entire playbook is one of the two most talented active receivers on this roster. He is worth a speculative add in deeper formats and is a must-add if still available in dynasty leagues.
