David Lee will undergo elbow surgery after an infection developed from a cut in his arm. Last Wednesday Lee elbowed Wilson Chandler in the mouth. At the time it looked like Chandler took the brunt of the collision as he lost some teeth. But a fragment of a tooth was left in Lee’s arm, resulting in an infection. At this point, there is no timetable for Lee’s return.
Brandan Wright seems like the biggest short term beneficiary as he logged in 35 minutes in the Warriors’ first game without David Lee. However, on Saturday, Dan Gadzuric started (11 minutes) in Lee’s place while Jeff Adrian had the most playing time of any reserve big man. (19 minutes). Brandan Wright played less than 8 minutes. Wright is by far the most talented of the big men reserves, but if you pick him up, be prepared for erratic minutes.
Brandon Roy will not undergo surgery on his left knee. Sounds optimistic, until you hear the reason why; there is no meniscus remaining in his knee to operate. Basically, there is bone-on-bone contact that will cause a lot swelling. Roy is a tough player, but this is bound to result in a reduction in minutes and possible DNP’s.
Yi Jianlian left Saturday’s game against the Wizards after colliding with John Wall. Right now it appears to be a bruised right knee, but no word yet on whether he will miss any games. This is a tough break for a player that had been averaging 5 blocks over the last two games.
Jeff Green will be a game-time decision for Sunday’s game versus the Spurs. He practiced on Saturday, so the possibility of Green playing is likely.
