According to ESPN, Anthony Randolph will be out for a week with a sprained ankle. Make sure he is out of your lineup over the next few games. Randolph has had a disappointing preseason. He will probably take 2 weeks before he becomes fantasy relevant, as he will have to earn his way back into the Knicks rotation.
Keep an eye on Denver’s frontcourt as Nene appears to be the only healthy big man. Kenyon Martin and Chris Andersen are both out at least until December, while Al Harrington is questionable for the series opener. These injuries have been overshadowed by the Carmelo Anthony trade talks. Nene should provide solid fantasy production regardless of what personnel changes transpire. If Melo left Denver, Harrington’s value would rise significantly, becoming a top scoring option in the Nuggets offense.
Rotoprofessor has reported that Gilbert Arenas is questionable for the Wizards opener on Thursday. That means Nick Young will likely start at Shooting Guard. Last year, after Arenas was suspended, Young played alongside Randy Foye and Earl Boykins. Now with John Wall running the point in Washington, Nick Young will be playing alongside a real Point Guard, allowing Young to focus on what he does best – scoring. But once Arenas returns after a couple of games, Young will return to his bench role, providing limited fantasy value.
For those that have yet to draft their fantasy basketball team, Fantasy Knuckleheads have put together a nice Sleeper list. I like the point about Luol Deng. Last year he averaged 17 points and 7 rebounds with almost a block and a steal per game. He has been ranked much lower than his stats indicate because of Carlos Boozer joining the Bulls. But Boozer is often injured (as is the case right now), making Deng the 2nd offensive option after Rose.
