Fantasy Basketball Buzzer Beater for Oct 29th 2010

Act_troy_murphyThe New Jersey Nets are expecting to have Troy Murphy back some time next week. The Nets are doing fine starting the NBA elder statesman Joe Smith at Power Forward as they have won their first two games of the season.  From a fantasy perspective, Murphy owners can soon expect it to start reigning threes (and rebounds).

Earlier I mentioned to play close attention to Sacramento’s 2nd game to find out how Francisco Garcia seems to fit into the rotation in Tyreke Evans’ first game of the year.  Although, Garcia did not start, he played over 30 minutes and scored 18 points.  And like I said in the aforementioned article, if given the minutes, he would provide help in the scarce fantasy categories.  Against the Nets, he had 4 three-pointers, 2 steals, and 1 block.  The threes were the most impressive considering he knocked down 4 of 6 shot attempts from downtown. Time to pick him up.

Rotoprofessor discusses an interesting development in Minnesota where Head Coach Kurt Rambis played Kevin Love for only 24 minutes in the Timberwolves opener. This resulted in Anthony Tolliver having a monster game.  The lack of minutes for Love seems like a repeat of last year, where Rambis and Love did not see eye-to-eye. Well, in the Wolves 2nd game, Love responded with 17 points and 16 rebounds despite playing only 27 minutes.

The Carmelo sauga continues….The Nuggets do not want to trade Melo to his preferred choice – New York Knicks.  It’s looking more and more like he will end up in New Jersey before the trade deadline in February.  If Carmelo Anthony left Denver, the scoring production from Billups, Affalo, and Harrington should increase.
