Fantasy Basketball Hot Pickups – Week 9

Brandon Bass seems to be in line to be a major beneficiary of Rashard Lewis and Marcin Gortat’s departures as both players used to play minutes at power forward. Bass is now on top of the Magic’s depth chart at power forward and he should start to log close to 30 minutes per game which is enough for him to put up close to a daily double double. Bass is averaging 14.3 points and 7.5 rebounds in four games as a starter this year. Bass is still available in 80% of Yahoo! leagues.

Spencer Hawes has seen his career rejuvenated in Philadelphia and he shows no signs of relinquishing his starting center job. Hawes has averaged 12 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks over his past five games and is finding some consistency. He is currently available in 67 percent of leagues and should be added in all formats.

Nick Young is a big winner from the Gilbert Arenas trade and he should start to see some more playing time with Rashard Lewis expected to play small forward. The new Wizards lineup may look like this: John Wall, Nick Young, Rashard Lewis, Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee. Nick Young has shown the making of becoming a consistent scorer and netted 30 points on Saturday night with Arenas already on his way out of town. Young is available in 63 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Reggie Williams has been on fire lately and has averaged 20.3 points, 5.3 rebounds 3 threes and 3.7 assists on .538% shooting over his past three games. He is the player to own with Stephen Curry nursing an injury and should be owned in all formats in the interim. He is available in 53% of Yahoo! leagues.

Leandro Barbosa is still a solid pickup in deeper leagues despite Jose Calderon returning to the Raptors starting lineup. Barbosa has been solidifying his hold on the sixth man job for the Raptors and he should continue to provide around 15 ppg, 3 rpg and 1.3 3pg. He has been averaging 14.3 points and 2.3 threes over the past three games. Barbosa is currently available in 57 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Shane Battier has been averaging 8.3 points, 6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2 steals and 1.3 blocks over the past three games. With news that Yao is out for the season emerging Battier should be added in all formats. Battier is currently available in 55 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Chris Douglas-Roberts is back on fantasy radars after picking it up as of late for the Milwaukee Bucks. CDR has averaged 16 points per game and has been coming close to averaging a steal, block and three during the same three game stretch. He is worth the look in deeper leagues and is currently available in 93 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Marcus Thornton has been heating up lately and has averaged 15.3 points, 4 rebounds, 2 threes and 1 steal on .576% shooting over his past three games. Thornton is currently available in 68% of Yahoo! leagues.

Anthony Parker seems to be clawing his way back to fantasy relevance and has averaged 14.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.3 threes and 1.5 steals over his past four games. Parker is someone to look at in deeper leagues due to his scoring and three-points made upside. Parker is currently available in 95 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Marvin Williams is the player to own with Joe Johnson out for at least another month. Williams has averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds and 1.3 threes over the past seven days. Williams is currently available in 72 percent of leagues.

DeAndre Jordan is solid roster addition with Chris Kaman still nursing an injury and has averaged 7.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks on .824% shooting for the Clippers. He is a solid short-term big man add and is available in 86 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Mike Miller is set to return to the Heat in the next two weeks and should be added immediately. Miller will be leaned on to play with the Thrice as well as spell LBJ and Wade. As the 4th option on offense he will be inconsistent but has solid point, rebounds and three upside. Miller is currently available in 61 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Travis Outlaw has climbed his way back to fantasy relevance following the trade of Terrence Williams which helps open up more minutes for him. He was recently demoted from the starting lineup but has the upside to find his way back there if he can prove he can play more controlled and unselfish. Outlaw is currently available in 73% of Yahoo! leagues.

Linas Kleiza has been on fire in his past two contest staring for an injured Sonny Weems and due to Weems; recent struggles Klezia may not relinquish the job upon Weems’ return. Kleiza has averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds and 3.5 threes over hos past two as a starter . Kleiza is currently available in 67 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Derrick Favors is the hot add for deep leaguers with roster space to stash a player or two. Popular thinking has it that Favors, whether with the Nets or the Nuggets will be playing a major role down the stretch and will potentially be a difference maker in the fantasy playoffs. Favors is available in 80 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
