Fantasy Football Fix August 11th 2010

tjonesThomas Jones is set to have a bigger role than expected for the Kansas City Chiefs and it is likely time for a reality check regarding the Jamaal Charles hype. T.J is ideally suited for the goal-line role and and is also a better pass blocker than Charles which means he will also see the field during passing downs. His hands are not as good as Charles’ but they are good enough nonetheless. Thomas Jones is now a solid flex option and while Charles still has RB1 upside we would be a lot more comfortable with him as a RB2 or better yet a RB3. Avoid Charles in fantasy drafts, he is now a bonafide boom or bust pick.

Ramses Barden is ready to make a red-zone impact. This 6’6 receiver has been shining during OTA’s and training camp and he may be ready to be schemed for on game days. Barden’s height is Burress-esque and Eli Manning and the New York Ginats would be well advised to take advantage of Barden’s physical gifts.

Training camp injuries: Lynell Hamilton (ACL tear?);

T.J Houshmandzadeh is losing fantasy value fast. For every report that Golden Tate or Deon Butler is making waves T.J’s value takes a small hit. The preseason performance of the two will go along way in helping establish T.J’s role with the team. Mike Williams is also impressing and T.J may not see a full complement of stats if the Seahawks young receivers continue to make a push.

Brandon Jacobs has his burst back. At least according to Brian Baldinger of NFL.com. Jacobs is in line for a high end RB2 season and should flirt with RB1 status when his 1000+ rushing yard and 10+ rushing TD’s are in the books.

Rashad Jennings may have the best hands of any running back on the Jacksonville Jaguars. I found this more than a little bit surprising as the Jags boast one of the widely thought best pass-catching backs in the NFL, but these speaks volumes to Jennings receiving ability.
