Fantasy Football Fix August 21st 2010

rashard-mendenhall-092808Rashard Mendenhall will be getting passing down work and is firmly entrenched as a RB1 and even a 1st round selection. Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians favorably compared Mendenhall to Marshall Faulk and Edgerrin James and this has to make fantasy owners salivate. If you draft Mendenhall go RB-WR, but take note as 25+ receptions seems all but assured for Mendenhall and his underrated hands.

A RBBC may be looming in Seattle and this is now officially another backfield to stay away from when considering anything above a flex option. Justin Forsett seems to be the most explosive back with Leon Washington who impressed on Saturday still working his way back to full speed, but the Seahawks do not envision him as a 20 carry feature back and there is still a chance that a power back is brought in to Seattle to help the ground game move the chains. Leon is more talented so this is a RBBC to avoid completely if possible.

As has been stated by Chad Ochocinco himself on numerous occasions Terrell Owens is the Bengals new #1 WR and it is time for your draft board/cheat sheet to reflect this. T.O is still going far too late in drafts and is a steady WR2 in all formats.

Devin Thomas should be starting in short-order according to Redskins writer Jason Reid of the Washington Post. We here at WMFL are convinced that the Shanaplan is to motivate Thomas by placing him with the 2’s and that placing him with the 2’s would give him additional developmental time during the first couple of preseason games. We still like Thomas as a solid late round flier.

Preseason notes:Sleepers that impressed include Leon Washington; Kareem Huggins; Mike Williams from both the Seahawks and Buccaneers; Andre Brown; Emmanuel Sanders and Benjamin Watson.
