Fantasy Football Fix August 25th 2010

demaryius thomas_broncos_fanmail.jpgDemaryius Thomas has reaggravated his foot injury once again and this has to be very concerning for fantasy owners. The Broncos should just give Thomas time off to allow this nagging injury that also plagued him in college to fully heal. Thomas has loads of potential but his redraft prospects just took a major hit as this injury is apparently a lingering one he has not been able to shake. Reports have it that worst case scenario means he will be out 3-4 months, or in other words the entire NFL season. This news gives both Jabar Gaffney, Eddie Royal, Brandon Lloyd, Brandon Stokley and Eric Decker a chance to take the snaps the promising rookie may miss if the worst case scenario comes to fruition. We recommend Gaffney and Royal while putting the rest on your watch list.

Looking for deep running back sleepers? Our friends at Fantasy Knuckleheads have got you covered. This list is pretty extensive and covers every deep sleeper except for James Starks and Ryan Torain. Kareem Huggins deservedly tops their list of the top-8 deep sleepers after having a terrific off-season, training camp and preseason.

ESPN Insider’s Eric Karabell analyzed who may be the top potential touchdown vultures in fantasy football land, his list includes: Jerome Felton of the Lions (we say Kevin Smith); Kareem Huggins, Samkon Gado (we like Blount); Willis McGahee; Mike Bell; Ladell Betts (Saints); Peyton Hillis and in a surprise Keiland Williams of the Redskins.

Sammie Stroughter is set to be the Buccaneers #2 receiver on opening day and it is time for deep leaguers to take notice. His hold on the job is tenuous at best but he is definitely a target in PPR leagues as when he is the #2 he will be used in a Wes Welker type role and will be used in the slot in three-wide sets and when and if he is overtaken for the #2 job by Arrelious Benn.

Greg Camarillo has been traded to the wide-out needy Vikings and is an acquire now target in 12-team+ PPR leagues. His role in the offense is not yet defined but most would probably guess that he will beat out Javon Walker for the third spot on the wide receiver depth chart. If you have the roster holes we advise to acquire both until the depth chart sorts itself out.

Jay Cutler says Rashied Davis is impressing and that is good news for his fantasy relevance. Davis is nothing more than someone to put on your radar and add to your watch list at this point.
