Fantasy Football Fix August 27th 2010
Darren McFadden will get his audition for the starting tailback job during the third preseason game where he will run with the 1’s.
It is time McFadden to show and prove and if he can not provide a good showing he will likely lose the job for good to the impressive Michael Bush (who is a 1st round NFL draft talent himself). We expect big things from Darren ‘The Perfect Weapon’ McFadden every season and this season is no different. D-Mac is still a solid ADP value and sleeper.
Donnie Avery is done for the season and Laurent Robinson, Mardy Gilyard and Michael Hoomanawanui stand to be the main beneficiaries. Laurent Robinson is now the clear-cut #1 WR on the Rams; Hoomanwanui heavily impressed as Sam Bradford’s main red zone target and is a excellent and must-add in dynasty formats while Gilyard should find his way into the starting lineup by mid-season.
Matt Leinart may be outright released by the Cardinals. If it does happen look for the Seahawks to immediately put in a claim for him. We should have seen this coming but college suggested he may have the talent to succeed in the NFL, disappointingly that may not be the case.
Vincent Jackson says he is prepared to sit out the whole season and with his agents supporting him until he gets his contract…who can blame him? Is he worth the money he is asking for? Probably not unless he is willing to take only 20% of it guaranteed, but he is a #1 fantasy WR when he plays so we will continue to monitor this situation. There is some talk that the Rams may be interested with Sam Bradford now taking the reigns in St. Louis.
