Fantasy Football Fix August 30th 2010
Maurice Jones-Drew did not have surgery according to coach Jack Del Rio, nor is it needed. This should make weary fantasy G.M’s rest easier about the consensus #3 pick. MJD is a safe bet knee issues or not, he has the potential to finish the season as the #1 overall running back so draft accordingly. MJD is a fantasy beast and has the skills and touches to amass 1500+ rushing yards, 15+ rushing TD’s, 60+ catches, 350+ receiving yards and 4 receiving TD’s…..don’t panic and pass on this all-world talent…rather draft his handcuff Rashard Jennings if you are really concerned.
Is LeSean McCoy an RB1? This question was discussed by the crew at Rotoprofessor and we are also convinced that he does indeed have RB1 upside, however we would be much more comfortable with him as our RB2.
Need some deep sleepers at running back? Matthew Berry of ESPN has you covered: he suggests Kareem Huggins, Peyton Hillis, Jerome Felton, Issac Redman, Toby Gerhart, Anthony Dixon, Jeremiah Johnson, Patrick Cobbs, Deji Karim and in a shocker Justin Fargas (who was released by the time I was ready to post today’s fix). All very good suggestions except for Fargas and you would be well advised to read the rest of TMR’s article for more tips for your fantasy season.
Looking for some safe early round picks? ESPN Insider’s Eric Karabell suggests Peyton Manning, Ryan Grant, Hines Ward, Jason Witten, Roddy White and Phillip Rivers.
Looking for some solid deep league sleepers at the wide receiver position? Our friends at Fantasy Knuckleheads have got you covered. They suggest Jabar Gaffney, Laurent Robinson, Mike Williams (TB), Louis Murphy, Nate Washington (we prefer Britt), Lee Evans and Mohamed Massaquoi. We like all of these selections and are targeting all but Evans and Washington in our own drafts.
