Fantasy Football Fix August 7th 2010
T.J Houshmandzadeh of the Seattle Seahawks has stated that he will demand the ball more this year and that leads us to believe that he will threaten 100 receptions again this year despite the presence of Golden Tate. T.J and Tate make quite the 1-2 punch and Hasselbeck should also return to his 2007-2008 form. With this recent revelation you can draft Housh as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3 with confidence.
Good news for Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw owners. The New York Giants intend to re-establish their dominant ground game with Brandon Jacobs and Bradshaw now both healthy after off-season surgery. Brandon Jacobs should have 10+ TD’s this season while Bradshaw should eclipse 1000 total yards from scrimmage on the season, both are roster worthy with Jacobs looking like an RB2 and Bradshaw like a high upside flex option.
Want a reason to believe in Rams running back Steven Jackson? Take this quote from Mark Clayton of ESPN “Jackson is a freak. He showed up at camp eight pounds heavier than last season and every bit as fast. Now he’s 244 pounds and has 5 percent body fat. He has put together five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and wants to do at least five more. His goal is to play a dozen seasons.” S-Jax is indeed a beast and only the hapless Rams are holding him back from being universally viewed as the best and most complete running back in the NFL.
Maurice Stovall is currently slotted in as the #2 wide receiver on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers depth chart with Arellious Benn and Micaheal Clayton pushing for his job. This is interesting news to note for Benn’s fantasy owners as it was expected all along that Benn would automatically be placed with the starters.
Training Camp Injuries: Eric Decker and Demmaryius Thomas both left practice with ailments; Darren McFadden was held out of practice with a tight hamstring.
LaDanian Tomlinson is still fantasy relevant as we have intimated here at Win My Fantasy League and Rex Ryan’s recent statement that LT is “the best third-down back in the league” should clearly indicate that LT will be heavily involved in the game-plan despite Shonn Greene being the unquestioned starter and feature back for the New York Jets. Draft as a solid flex play or bye week filler with RB3 upside. LT may manage close to 200 touches for the season.
