Fantasy Football Fix: July 19 2010

DevinHesterDevin Hester is learning Issac Bruce’s old role in the Martz offense from Issac Bruce himself.

“With the speed I have, he said it’s going to be hard to stop me.” Hester said. “He tells me, just from training with me, that I’m so explosive and if I can put my fundamentals together I will succeed. So that’s basically what I’m doing now, brushing up my technique and trying to polish up everything and hopefully I can really translate it over to the game.”

A lot of fantasy G.M’s are passing on Hester this year and he is available in most leagues as a flex option or bye week filler. He has the potential to produce like a low-end WR2 and is an excellent ADP value.

Marion Barber is not the short-yardage back conventional wisdom would have you believe. Despite being the Cowboys power-back Marion Barber:

“Marion Barber of the Cowboys ranked among the NFL’s least-effective backs on third- and fourth-and-1 situations last season.”

This is a surprising revelation and is all the more reason to avoid Barber on draft day.  His backfield mate Felix Jones however is someone to target as low-end RB2 high-end RB3 with upside.

Jermaine Gresham is expected to be the starting tight end in Cincinnati as long as there is no hold out. Gresham finally gives Carson Palmer a legit stud at tight end and he may be an excellent value pick or bye-week filler. Dynasty and Keeper league G.M`s want to take notice now…all of the top QB`s have an elite TE, Gresham was drafted to be Palmer`s.
