Jermichael Finley is impressing Packers tight ends coach Ben McAdoo
“He’s really taken ownership of the offense from a knowledge standpoint,” said Ben McAdoo, the Packers’ tight ends coach. “We’re working on the fundamentals and the details now, we don’t spend much time talking about assignments. That’s exciting because when you have a chance to polish up the way you play the game, that’s when you really make strides.”
Finley was highly impressive in the second half of last year when his talent finally got put on consistent display. Finley is is now an elite fantasy tight end…….
He also went on to say:
He’s playing better. He’s fast in the pass game, his fundamentals are really starting to come together in the run game, which is big for us so teams can’t treat him as a big receiver, they have to respect us in the run game.”
The best thing we can read from McAdoo’s comments is that he has improved in the run game which means he will be on the field more often and not just on passing downs which helps to increase his already high fantasy value at the tight end position. Draft with confidence as an elite fantasy tight end.
Dez Bryant appears ahead of schedule and was as many as 2 hours early for practice. He also refused to carry incumbent starter Roy Williams’ shoulder pads as part of some ‘traditional’ rookie hazing. Dez looked amazing in practice and it is only a matter of time before Dez Bryant supplants Roy Williams as the starter and according to Jennifer Engel of the Fort Werth Star-Telegram….he already has. It is time to bump Dez Bryant up draft boards.
Early Doucet is impressing coaches this off-season and is primed for a major role. Many feel that Doucet is more suited to take over Anquan Boldin’s old role in the offense as the two of them share many similar traits. Leinart and Anderson are no Warner but if they plan to make Docuet the possession receiver he should emerge with some deep flex value in 10 team leagues and some decent flex value in 12 team formats.
‘The Talented Mr. Roto’ Matthew Berry released his annual love/hate list and this list is always one of the industry’s best. The Love or sleeper list includes Devin Aroshmadu pointing out that during the final four games of 2009 that Aroshmadu had as many targets as Miles Austin….this has to speak volumes. Matt Forte also of the Bears also makes the list and after being a top-6 pick in last years fantasy drafts Forte stands to provide excellent ADP value this year, especially as other fantasy owners are passing on him due to the arrival of backup Matt Forte. Chad Henne also made the love list after finishing 2009 strong and landing play maker Brandon Marshall. Jonathan Stewart was mentioned as a sleeper and I couldn’t agree more, a top-5 talent he is the clear-cut goal line back and there are usually enough carries to go around in Carolina. Dwayne Bowe also made the list and we here at Win My Fantasy League agree more with the sentiment that Bowe is a solid ADP value. The list is full of good names and the last I will mention is Mohammed Massaqoui of the Cleveland Browns who despite a shaky QB situation is still the #1 in Cleveland and his 18+ yards a catch indicate he may be in line for a breakout season in his sophomore campaign. Now for his ‘Hate’ or bust list: this list includes Carson Palmer who I actually have pegged as a sleeper and a solid ADP value. DeSean Jackson made the list because speed guys who rely on big plays represent a risk, add to that McNabb is gone and Kolb is the new starter and that is reason enough to pass on DeSean Jackson at his current ADP. Ronnie Brown made the list as he is a injury risk and in a heavy time-share. LeSean McCoy also made the list as the Eagles have a propensity to spread the ball around rushing attempt wise at the goal-line and Vick’s marked improvement over the off-season will ensure that he sees the field often in red-zone situations.
