Fantasy Football Fix July 28th 2010
The Boston Globe reports that although Wes Welker will start training camp on the PUP that he is on schedule to be ready for the start of the season. Writer Albert Breer went on to say that if there was a playoff game this week Welker would be active and ready to go. Time to give him a major boost up your cheats sheets, this is one of the most productive and tough receivers in the league. Draft with confidence as a WR3, but we all know with good reports out of training camp and preseason that Weker is an WR2….draft accordingly.
The Fifth down warns against focusing too intently on last years stats when making your running back draft position and provides a list that details that only 4 running backs from 2008’s top-12 finished in the top-12 in 2009 (Adrian Peterson, Thomas Jones, Chris Johnson and MJD).
This is good advice to remember as you need to also look at roster changes and how it may affect the running back in question.
ADP means Average Draft Position and it is a good indicator of a range where you can expect player to go in your fantasy draft. They are Fantasy Football Calculator, ESPN and Mock Draft Central. Good sources of ADP information.
Who are the most undervalued tight ends? According to the folks at Roto Times Zach Miller tops the list with Brent Celek and Chris Cooley not far behind. I am a firm Miller supporter and he is the tight end I am targeting late in my fantasy drafts, if he is not available any of the other 3 names mentioned will do.
As you know we can never get enough of running back rankings. The folks at Fighting Chance Fantasy provided us with a detailed running back ranking list and it is a good read.
The media concern over Antonio Bryant’s knee is “a mountain out of a molehill”. This information was relayed to Bengals.com and reported via twitter.
Brandon Jacobs is healthy and rearing to go. He says he has watched film and learned what he needs to do to reach a 1,400-1,500 yard season. If he has he is back in 1st round conversation but fantasy G.M’s are still skeptical..I am not one of them, I draft Jacobs wherever I get the chance. Jacobs’ comments are enough for me to bump him up to RB2 status, he is currently going in flex territory if you are a RB in the 1st round G.M. Draft with confidence and expect 1000+ rushing yards and 10+ TD’s, something that is extremely valuable in standard leagues.
Rotoworld dynasty league expert Chris Wesseling has released a dynasty league mock draft and you may be surprised at the rankings. They are bang on but unless you are a current dynasty league G.M you will probably be questioning some players ranks. The most notable inclusion in the 1st round is Jonathan Stewart.
