Fantasy Football Fix July 30th 2010
Devin Hester is ready to breakout and fantasy owners should take him seriously. Hester is a game-breaker with the ball in his hands and he will get plenty of opportunity to shine with Jay Cutler and Mike Martz responsible for getting him the ball. As reported before by WMFL Hester is working our with Issac Bruce and it has increased his confidence.
“..Hester said his 16-plus individual workouts with four-time Pro Bowl receiver Isaac Bruce this off-season have emboldened him.
”It’s on a whole different level now,” Hester said. ”I’ve got a swag now. This is going to be my breakout year. I’m going to shock a lot of people.”
Draft with confidence, even if named the 3rd receiver, which isn’t likely due to contract, Hester is still a good bet to maintain solid flex value; at worst he is a bye-week filler.
Dez Bryant went down in practice with what is rumored to be a high ankle sprain which will sideline the promising rookie for 4-6 weeks. He is projected to be ready for opening day but the lead he had on Roy Williams for the 2nd wide receiver position is now gone. Dez Bryant is still an immense talent but we will now likely have to wait until week 5 or 6 until he becomes a fantasy force.
DynastyLeague.com has compiled two running back ranking lists…one for the competing owner….one for the rebuilding owner..this is a good take and it is refreshing to see rankings take into account the extreme difference in rankings when in one of the two scenario’s.
Brandon Tate may emerge as the Patriots third receiver ahead of Torry Holt. Belichick has praised the 2nd year man for the big strides he has made this off-season. The Patriots third receiver is usually a decent flex option but with Tate, Edelman and Torry Holt all competing for snaps, we are staying away from this situation.
Sam Bradford signs and he is assured to be fantasy relevant as a QB2 by mid-season. He has a formidable but star lacking receiving corps in Robinson, Avery and Gillyard and the presence of Steven Jackson provides him with a seriously explosive run game to threaten opposing defensive coordinators with as well as a sure-handed, big bodied check down option. Draft as a bench stash until it is clear whether or not he will begin season as opening day QB.
