Fantasy Football Fix Oct 25th 2010

In Today’s Fantasy Football Fix: Brett Favre may miss his first start ever; Tony Romo may be out 6-8 weeks; Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson both expected back for the Eagles and more….

98699411JP033Brett Favre’s iron-man streak may be over as he has two fractures in his foot. I expect him to suit up but with the Vikings season in disarray old man Favre may be ready to pack it in. Favre missing the game would be detrimental to the fantasy values of Randy Moss and especially Percy Harvin who has looked like a complete stud as a #2 WR since the acquisition of Randy Moss.

Tony Romo is expected to miss up to 6 weeks with a fractured clavicle suffered on Monday Night Football. Jon Kitna hurts the fantasy value of every Cowboys skill player except Roy Williams who he has a solid chemistry with from their days together in Detroit (and we have seen how much of an impact that has first-hand with former Bears teammates Kyle Orton and Brandon Llyod in Denver).

Cadillac Williams and LaGarette Blount are now in a timeshare and Blount should be acquired in all leagues as his role will likely continue to expand as he improves in pass protection and the passing game.

Michael Vick says he will be healthy coming out of the bye week and will be ready to face Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in week 9. Coach Andy Reid has repeatedly said Vick is their starter when healthy and we believe him…..this time.

James Davis has been released by the Cleveland Browns in a complete head-scratcher. They reportedly released him because they coveted running back Thomas Clayton who was signed off the Patriots practice squad. We expect Davis to latch onto a team within two weeks…he is too talented not to and could be starting for a couple of teams.

DeAngelo Williams is day-to-day and signs are looking good for his chances to play in week 8. If he misses the game Jonathan Stewart is immediately upgraded to a top-10 fantasy running back.

After Kenny Britt’s weekend brawl Titans coach Jeff Fisher contemplated keeping Britt out the entire game. Suffice it to say after further investigation he decided against it and Britt exploded for 3 TD’s and 225 yards and showed his WR1 potential.

Chester Taylor received an upgrade in fantasy football leagues upon news that he has been named the Bears new goal-line back. This move also obviously conversely means that Matt Forte’s value takes a hit.

DeSean Jackson looks to return in week 9 after the teams week 8 bye. It seems his return will coincide with Michael Vick’s and that is good news for both players’ fantasy value.
