Fantasy Football Fix Oct 26th 2010
In Today’s Fantasy Football Fix: It is time to buy-low on Jahvid Best; Brett Favre is expected to play Sunday; James Davis to the Redskins and more…
The time may be right to try to buy low on Jahvid Best in redraft and dynasty leagues as injuries have hampered him in recent weeks. Coming out of the bye rival owners may be more inclined to deal him due to recency bias.
Don’t count out Brett Favre playing this Sunday just yet as rumours have started swirling that Favre will indeed suit up in an attempt to keep the Vikings’ playoff hopes alive.
The Washington Redskins have signed Jeremiah Johnson to their practice squad and he is someone you want to add to your watch list. Dynasty league G.M’s will want to pay particularly close attention to Ryan Torain’s health as his uphill running style presents an increased injury risk. Update: The Redskins have signed James Davis as of Wednesday morning and this is an ideal landing spot for James Davis playing behind an injury risk running back and for a coach that is known for making 1,000 yard rushers. Move to acquire in all dynasty league formats. Reports have it that James Davis will take Johnson’s spot on the practice squad.
Louis Murphy is expected to miss this weeks contest with a bruised lung. This should increase Darren McFadden’s usage in the passing game even more. Zach Miller is also in line for a big week with Murphy out.
ESPN Insider’s Eric Karabell discusses some sleeper wide receivers and mentions Steve Johnson, Jordan Shipley, Davone Bess, David Gettis and James Jones; all names we recommended in our Hot Pickups for Week 8.
ESPN Insider’s Eric Karabell put out his weekly stock watch article and his risers are: Ryan Fitzpatirck, Ahmad Bradshaw and Johnny Knox. You will have to subscribe to ESPN Insider to see his fallers…
Former Heisman trophy winner Troy Smith will take over for the injured Alex Smith as the starting QB of the San Francisco 49ers. This move actually has the chance to be an upgrade. Let us remember Joe Flacco was slated to start his rookie season on the bench behind Troy Smith before Smith fell ill prior to the season losing a lot of weight and thus the job got handed to standout Joe Flacco. The only knock on Troy Smith has been his height, or lack thereof, but he is still a solid player and it stands to reason that he will play better than the largely ineffective Alex Smith who is out for 2-3 weeks.
