Fantasy Football Fix September 1st 2010
Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree got into a heated exchange over Crabtree’s behavior towards the team thus far. Davis an emotional leader of the 49ers and a team captain went off on Crabtree who we he felt may have milk his ‘stiff neck’ for all that it was worth during preseason…and this is after a holdout that lasted 5 weeks into the season but still saw Crabtree almost immediately inserted into the staring lineup. Crabtree is starting to act like the diva many penciled him in as and his teammates are already growing tired of his antics as can be evidenced by the fact that Vernon Davis got numerous ‘daps’ (fist bumps) from his teammates upon returning to the field after going to the locker room with Crabtree and coach Mike Singletary. This has no adverse affect on Crabtree’s fantasy value and may actually help put Crabtree’s head in the game and boost his fantasy value.
From off-season sleeper to on the roster bubble Devin Thomas is in danger of being cut by a team that is in deep need of wide receivers and that should tell you all you need to know about his development or lack thereof. He is a hold in dynasty leagues and you may want to wait a couple of days in redrafts but the outlook is not good for the once promising Devin Thomas.
Montario Hardesty is expected to play in the Browns final preseason game and if he can make it through the game without injury he will be well on his way to claiming the feature back role coaches had him penciled into after he was drafted.
Roy Williams’ hip flexor is exactly the opportunity the super talented Dez Bryant needed to claim the #2 job across from Miles Austin…now that Williams has an injury that will limit his snaps coach Wade Phillips does not have to worry about veteran vs rookie anymore and can put the best and most healthy talent on the field. Dez Bryant has some major upside in this offense and should make for a great WR3.
Jermichael Finley will be a pro bowl tight end this year according to coach Mike McCarthy, the only thins possibly holding back according to Mike is not making it through all 16 games. Fantasy G/M’s take notice, Finley is the new #1 receiver on the Packers.
