Fantasy Football Fix September 26th 2010
Jahvid Best may have sprained ligaments in his big toe and this is potential damning news to fantasy owners who had a fantasy beast on their hands. We will find out more about the severity of the injury in the coming days.
Jimmy Raye has been fired as the offensive coordinator of the 49ers. I don’t agree with this call as Raye is the reason Vernon Davis finally realized their potential. The problem is Alex Smith whether Mike Singeltary wants to admit it or not. The 49ers and now 0-3 and are in panic mode so this move was not unexpected.
Andre Johnson may have a high ankle sprain and if this is true it is detrimental to fantasy owners everywhere. The first WR taken in drafts this year really helps open things up for the Texans’ run game so Arian Foster will suffer from this injury as well. Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones get obvious upgrades if AJ is to miss any time with the injury.
Ray Rice left the game against the Browns and left the stadium on crutches. McGahee and McLain are must-add’s if available in your league. The MRI showed no significant damage but further tests will be done on his knee. Willis McGahee should be owned anyways while LeRon McLain is a good speculative add while they determine the extent of Rice’s injury.
Demaryius Thomas was derailed by a possible arm/wrist injury and is being sent for X-rays.
LaDanian Tomlinson got the start over Shonn Greene and I hope all fantasy owners who drafted Greene have some legit other options because this is going to stick. Fact: LT gives the Jets a better chance to win and is FAR superior as a receiver out of the backfield.
Peyton Hillis had the best game against the Ravens in Browns history with 144 yards rushing and 36 yards receiving.
Mike Williams suffered a shoulder injury and sat out the entire second half. This bodes well for the fantasy value of players like Golden Tate and Deon Butler and helps to explain Deion Branch’s big game against the Chargers.
LaGarrette Blount will be used more going forward and Raheem Morris actually planned to use him more against the Steelers but the game got out of hand and did not allow for that.
