Fantasy Football Fix September 28th 2010
Shonn Greene played just 17 snaps to LaDainian Tomlinson‘s 42 and it is clear who the new feature back in New York is. Hopefully you weren’t an unlucky one who did not handcuff LT to Greene. LT is now a solid RB2 while Shonn Greene is a flex starter in a complete role reversal in real life and fantasy football.
Trent Edwards has been claimed by the Jacksonville Jaguars and will serve as David Garrard‘s backup once he begins to get a feel for the Jaguars playbook. David Garrard is firmly on the hot seat as the Jaguars have looked miserable on offense and the Jags have picked up 3 QB’s this week. My opinion on Garrard’s woes: Torry Holt, though ineffective is still a great coverage draw and that helped “#2 receiver” Mike Sims-Walker explode, now as the jags #1 MSW is simply not getting it done despite a ton of targets.
Steve Breaston underwent surgery to repair and will be out until at least week 7. The Cardinals have been decimated by injuries and preseason sleeper Stephen Williams figures to take over the #2 role. Add as a bye week filler and see how the rookie does.
Ray Rice should be ready for Sundays game. And this is wonderful news for panicking fantasy owners. However bear in mind that he will not be at 100% this weekend.
Kevin Smith is likely to see his first action of the season with Jahvid Best banged up. Smith puts a dent in Best’s upside and redraft managers will want to react accordingly. Dynasty league managers may want to use this opportunity to see if you can pry the promising young rookie from a rival G.M.
Andre Johnson says he will play this Sunday against Oakland. He’s no doctor but I will side with AJ and recommend the start in all leagues.
LaGarette Blount has been named the goal-line back in Tampa Bay. Blount is worth a pickup in deeper leagues as he has a chance to turn this into a full blown time-share.
