Fantasy Football Fix September 2nd 2010
Montario Hardesty injured his knee again, luckily this time it is the right knee but he will still have to go for an MRI. This is a major boon for Jerome Harrison owners and we are recommending a speculative add of last night’s star James Davis (who hurt his ankle but will be fine for week 1) as well as Peyton Hillis if you have the roster space as Hardesty was seen on crutches after the game. We have been big Davis supporters since last year and would not be surprised if he takes the job from Harrison by week 3 if he is afforded the opportunity.
Michael Bush may be out up to a month following thumb surgery to his left, and strong hand. The southpaw was expected to play a major role for the Raiders and had the lead back job all but sewn up before the injury. Darren McFadden will finally get his time to show and prove, and prove he better. Darren McFadden is now a low-end RB2 or high end RB3 following this news.
Steve Slaton has turf toe and could miss week 1. Its not like Slaton was projected to have a big role anyways but this turns Arian Foster into an every-down back further cementing his status as an upside RB2. We do not like Foster prospects at all in dynasty leagues but take advantage of this situation in all redraft leagues, Foster is now going as early as the 4th round in 12 team leagues. Jeremiah Johnson is also out with a dislocated toe.
Fred Taylor aka the ageless wonder ran with the 1’s once again and if there was any doubt about who the starter was/is in New England last night games should have answered that question for you. This is still a full-blown RBBC but all those owners drafting Laurence Maroney as more than a RB6 need to stop and rethink their strategy.
Wes Welker admits to the Boston Globe that he is not 100% yet even though some may think he looks like it. We still think it is safe to draft Welker as a WR3 or later.
Beanie Wells slightly injured his knee and will be fine but this is just a friendly reminder that Tim Hightower is still on this team and will get a minimum of 150 touches so temper for Beanie Wells expectations accordingly. with that said a 1000 yard rushing season and 10+ TD’s seems all but assured for the talented Wells.
