Fantasy Football Fix September 6th 2010
Justin Forsett has been named the starter in Seattle. This would have been bigger news yesterday when it appeared that the looming RBBC turned into a committee. Forsett has a chance to surprise many so called pundits who had no faith in Forsett this year. He looks like a decent RB3 but we would feel more comfortable with him as a flex play as we expect Leon Washington to emerge as the most valuable back in this backfield by years end.
Mark Clayton has signed with the Rams and he is a good bet to emerge as this teams #1 wide receiver as Laurent Robinson who is dealing with another injury has not exactly been the picture of health. Clayton will emerge with WR4/Flex value at sometime this season and is a recommended pickup for teams in need of wideout help.
Julius Jones has agreed to reconstruct his contract and is still with the Seahawks amid reports of his release. Jones muddles this backfield and turns it back into a RBBC. This is a fantasy situation to avoid.
Demetrius Williams will try out for the Rams and look to join former Ravens teammate Mark Clayton.
Mike Sando of ESPN suggests that we may see Max Hall starting at QB for the Cardinals sooner than we think. This is yet another reminder for dynasty league managers to stash Hall if they can or to keep a close eye on Derek Anderson’s play as the impressive Max Hall coupled with D.A’s performance based incentives will force Hall onto the field if the Cards struggle or fall out of the playoff picture.
LeGarette Blount was quickly snapped up by the Buccaneers who will need a power back type to spell Kareem Huggins if Cadillac Williams misses any time due to injury. Blount is not fantasy relevant and will not be unless Cadillac suffers an injury.
Troy Smith has been signed by the 49ers and we see this as a ideal landing spot for he former Heisman winner. He will push David Carr for #2 duties behind Alex Smith once he learns the offense.
Michael Bush is back at practice and may be back on the field for week 1. We suggest that the Raiders will hold him out of week 1 action to ensure that his hand is fully healed for the other 15 games of the season but we have been surprised before. Run with Darren McFadden as long as Bush is out. McFadden is a high upside RB3 until Michael Bush is back at full strength.
