Fantasy Football Fix September 7th 2010
Adrian Peterson thinks he may have found a way to rectify the fumbling problem that has plagued him his NFL career and if that is indeed the case we can add a couple of TD’s to our AP projections as he has fumbled the ball an average of 6.3 times a season. AP claims that he has watched tape and realized that h used to brace his fall with the hand with the ball in it, leaving him susceptible to defenders stripping the ball. No more. This will be a major boon for all AP fantasy owners if he has indeed corrected his main issue.
Issac Redman has been named the short yardage back in Pittsburgh and this is not much of a surprise as Redman and Jonathan Dwyer seemed to be heavily in the mix to win this job from Rashard Mendenhall. This is damning news for Mendenhall’s fantasy value but only the most short-sighted fantasy analysts did not see this coming, so his value does not really take much of a hit. He will lose a few TD’s to Redman and Redman is worth a pickup in deeper leagues with 200+ players in the pool.
Sammie Stroughter is penciled in as the opening day starter confirming reports we have been getting out of Tampa Bay for the last couple of weeks. Stroughter will be pushed into the slot when Benn gets up to speed but should be a nice PPR flex play until that happens. Stroughter is a decent bye week filler/injury depth and is a flex worthy player in deeper PPR leagues.
Tim Hightower will be the starter on opening day for the Cardinals and this has little to due with Beanie Wells’ recent knee tweak. Wells, despite his preseason hype has never passed Tim Hightower on the depth chart this off-season and Hightower will still be heavily involved. We may have been too low on Tim Hightower this off-season as he is primed to make a serious dent in PPR formats and will curtail Beanie Wells from being able to showcase his true upside.
Demaryius Thomas is back at practice and while he is unlikely to make much of an impact in week the fact that he is on the practice field is an encouraging sign for his fantasy owners and for his prospects this season. His return puts the Jabar Gaffney hype on hold and while he will still maintain WR4/flex value in PPR leagues, he is only a flex option in non-PPR leagues.
